No. Rather, if they eat apple pie. :p

You know, not every culinary item is prepared world-wide, even if all the ingredients are easy to find locally. ;)

I do know that... but apple pie is from Europe, specifically England.

Everyone knows this.

;)

It's assuming you know what the style is, and while it may technically be an idiom since it does not have English roots and is used without translation, it's not the typical idiom.

1. It's not technically an idiom, it's an idiom, period.

2. There is NO SUCH THING as a typical idiom, ALL idioms are atypical . . . by definition!

3. You tried to critique an English idiom, not only by the rules of grammar (which you can't, by definition), but by the rules of French grammar.

It's not so much that I'm an elitist as that you are a gibbering idiot.

It probably did begin with French-Americans or French-Canadians, considering there were many here in the early settlement period. And then people who didn't understand French probably got confused but tried to mimic it.

Your verbal diarrhea gets annoying at times. You're a reasonably intelligent guy but you type with zero forethought way too often.

Your elitist and condescending approach to grammar instruction really is fucking awful. I don't care how my replies make me look, I'm surprised you get off so great when you look like a jackass.

I have never argued I have a perfect command of my native language. Very few could ever come close to arguing such a statement with any weight. So you have an amazing grasp of the language. Good for you.

Most native speakers cannot perfectly describe every part of their language, including its function, proper usage, and how it relays a message compared to other similar parts.
Yet they can at least understand what how they work and what they mean, even if they can't relay the specifics.

In short, I don't care if my knowledge of the language is up to your little standards. I guarantee most people you come across couldn't live up to your standards.

It's because I couldn't possibly care to put 100% of my effort into something most people are not going to read, or even care about.

But America invented Ice Cream and made it perfect. Therefore apple pie is from America, because, well, mmmm fuck yeah, 'merica.

As far as I am aware the first recipe for "modern" ice cream is attributed to "Mrs. Mary Eales's Receipts" in London 1718. So that would make it English too...

The precursor dates back to the Persians/Romans...

But yeah 'merica!

You admit you post half-ass? Ok. Then don't get your panties in a bunch when you get called on it.

Don't worry, nothing is bunched up over here.

However, your original... shall we say, comment... had nothing to do with, well, whatever the hell we just discussed.
