If you are talking about macrolagers I agree they tend to be pretty mediocre, but, some of the so called "micro" breweries have significantly upgraded their production lines, to the point that they are brewing over 100,000 barrels per per year.. (Founders is just one of many examples of this.)

I think what he meant was shit American beers made from high percentages of rice. They don't do that because it tastes good, but because they are cheap and baby boomers and their predecessors were weaned onto it. We are now waking from the shit beer coma we were in.

Sad it would take me significant time to come up with ten great mass produced US made items, and most of those would kind of niche things, not stuff the average person would know of.

There are so many different varieties, you just need to keep trying different ones until you find one you like. If you never do, then move on to a different drink entirely.

I find that when people say they don't like beer, it is because they have a dislike for things bitter. Suggesting some chocolate stout or something on the sweeter side is generally the way to go with those types.

For non-beer drinkers who like sour, add Gose to the list of recommendations... usually a lot more mellow vs the Belgian Geuze style.. (Westbrook Gose is an awesome session beer, low abv and delicious taste = great for hot day, I wish they distributed here)

And, wheat ales, or cream ales tend to be more palatable to those who unfortunately do not enjoy a hefty dose of IBUs.
