I wonder what the age breakdown of those who give two shits about what kind of beer other people drink is? I wonder if most of the complainers are hipsters or millenials who are just too cool for everyone else...

41 here and my taste in beer changed as I got older. In no particular order these are my normal brands.

Heineken-my usual go to
Sam Adams-Cream Stout
Sam Adams-Boston Lager
Guinness, I like while sipping on Jameson Irish Whisky
Becks Dark
Warsteiner Dunkel
Pilsner Urquell
Straight to Ale-Local Brewery

I like spicy, sweet and light flavored beers. I can't seem to like the harsh beers for some reason. It might sound lame o_O

Pale ales perhaps? Anchor Brewing Company Liberty Ale, Sierra Nevada pale ale,
Duvel, AleSmith San Diego Pale Ale 394, Dale's Pale Ale - Oskar Blues Grill & Brew

These aren't as hoppy as Many IPA's but should still be fairly spicy. Most have a sweeter maltiness without being heavy. The ABV varies quite a bit but, none are heavy hitters. Try a few and let me know if you like sweeter or spicier.

Do you care what kind of beer other people drink?

Nope, and if its not BYOB 'Ill usually drink what ever is offered. May not be my taste but its all good for socializing. I think the change started when I started matching beers to what I was having for dinner. I used to always drink on an empty stomach, get loaded up and then eat, unless it was wings or spicy foods in my 20's. Now, Ill choose a beer just like I would a wine. In winter time I like the darker beers with roasts and complex tasting dishes. Summer, the lighter beers when I have the grill going more often.

I wonder if spacejamz is a grumpy old man ;)

I'm 27 and don't really care what others drink, though I still give my BIL crap for keeping Budweiser in the house. Of course, I give him crap about everything else too.

There was a time you could justify Budweiser as American swill. It may not have been good, but at least your money went to helping support your neighbor. Now, you're just drinking shit, and sending your money out of the country for the privilege.

Beer snobs make me grumpy I guess...I am 45 and drink bud light but don't mind stellas or blue moons...

I quit drinking long ago, but back in the day we had some friends from New Zealand who had come to the US for adventure.
They liked Rainier of all things, but it had to be warm. There would be a case open on the counter, but they always put a few in the fridge for their Yankee friends.

Your sense of taste changes with age and is also strongly influenced by your genetics... so what tastes great to one person may not taste so great to you.

Luckily, you live in a time when you can afford to be picky. So go be picky.
