The assumption of Mutually Assured Destruction(M.A.D.) has kept this world in check for decades...

But its time to set policies aside.

My guess is Both the Palestinians and Talibans will be wiped out by the weekend (provided it was them of course). Cant use Nukes, NO way that will happen again. However, every other major power, Great Britain, Russia, Germany even France (most likely China as well), has given us the green light to retaliate in any way we see fit. I bet Bush gives Sharon the Green light in Isreal (they already have their tanks, Planes and Choppers lined up) to wipe the Palestinians off the Map. Look for the US to wipe out the Talibans (if it is confirmed it is Bin Ladin {most likely it is} and you can figure if any other towel headed bastard country tries to step in (Iraq, Iran, Egypt, who ever), you can bet our allies pick them off ie. GB, Australia, Italy,Germany and even Russia.
Being that I live 20mn from NYC and used to travel to and from The WTC every day when I worked on Wall Street, I have many friends who may have been lost in this attack. My prayers go to them and their families!!!!

I used to be on SEAL Team 5. When I saw what happened this morning I called some of my friends and we all feel the same way "Gimme my weapons and tell me when and where and we will be there!!!!" I say we send in ground forces and then the "TEAMS" to kidnap whoever is responsible along with any other people sympathetic to the cause of terrorism against the U.S. and bring them to justice!!

Shiz, I've had no military training whatsoever, but if we were to declare some type of warfare, I'd volunteer my a$$ in a second.

No NUKES!

Carpet Bombing, land forces, what ever it takes short of stooping to their level and dropping "the Bomb" would be doing just that. Who ever did this need to be taught a lesson and STOPPED for ALL time!!!!!!............but first lets wait and see who claims responsibility

<< If we could only have Reagan back for just 1 week -- you know what would happen. But it will probably be something on the order of an eye for an eye, like about 50,000 dead from the nation(s) responsible. >>

Thank God that rotting carcass isn't still running the country.

Nuking is not the answer. Killing civlians is SICK. It was sick in World War II, and its sick now. I am as upset about the WTC as everyone else, but these calls for nukes are ridiculous.

dropping the bomb is not stooping to their level.

Better nuke then send in ground forces and losing more americans to these assholes. enough is enough. if your never gonna use them why have them. the reason these attacks happened was not because of lack of security in our airports, even if we gave up all our freedoms and ran our airports like a military they still could find a way to get in and blow things up. the reason they dared is because they "know" we won't use our might. well it's time to show them. we are able and WILLING to use whatever force necessary to prevent this from ever happening again. world opinion be damned.

A nuke is not capable of distinguishing between a innocent and a culpable individual. Neither is a high jacked airliner! To kill indiscriminately is IMHO stooping to their level. It is unfortunate that solders will die in a military action, but that is their job. As a former Marine that served during NAM I knew the risk when I enlisted, the men and women in the armed forces now know the risk they took at signing up as well!

Those of you who are advocating outright nuclear warfare, are obviously very ignorant of our global political situation and standing. You seem to think that the world accepts nuclear warfare. IT DOES NOT!. And you seem to think that the United States reigns supreme and unquestioned. IT DOES NOT! We have multiple and radical enemies all around us, internally and externally, who would just love to see us resort to such bullyish tactics in order to condem us and justify further aggressions against the U.S.

Resorting to nuclear warfare will also set a very dangerous precedent that massively destructive tactics becomes fair game in the art of war...and what goes around, comes around. I for one, would not like to sit in my home, work, or classes, quivering with fear that at any given moment, I can be vaporized by a rogue nation's nuke, or have my skin eaten off of my body by way of biological warfare.

As a loyal American, I feel that if we are to wage war, which we totally should and are in-fact obligated to, it will be one that is reactionary in nature. One that is also executed with precision - much like the Gulf War.

Wiping whoever is responsible, and other terrorist and fanatical groups is just peachy-keen.I'm all for that by way of conventional warfare, but we as Americans, must be very cautious about nuclear arms, as surely we have learned through the Cold War example. If nuclear weapons are to be used, it should be in reaction to a nuclear or biological attack on the U.S.

No sense in arguing with a Reagan lover, you are obviously correct. I am obviously a moron. Despite the fact that Reagan was a fvcking joke of a president who could barely form his own thougths.

Anyway, you call me juvenile, yet all the arguments for nuking afghanistan or any other Islamic nation are far more juvenile than anything I have said.

Ripped from Encarta.com: Political parties & movements in Afghanistan: In the 1980s the dominant political party was the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA), a Communist party founded in 1965. In 1967 it had split into two rival factions, known as Khalq (Masses), a more radical group, and Parcham (Flag), a moderate, pro-Soviet group. The Khalq was strongest among Pashto speakers in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan. The Parcham was strongest among Dari-speaking urban intellectuals.

After the PDPA came to power in 1978, Noor Muhammad Taraki and Hafizullah Amin, who were Khalqis, began a purge of Parchamis. The fall of Amin in December 1979 and the Soviet intervention brought Parchami leaders to power. Babrak Karmal and Sayid Mohammed Najibullah belonged to the Parcham faction.

There are many guerrilla groups, known collectively as mujahideen, divided along ethnic lines and degrees of traditionalism and Muslim fundamentalism. In 1985 seven Pakistan-based groups formed a nominal united front, and in 1987, eight Iran-based groups formed their own united front. The mujahideen were mostly headquartered in Peshawar, Pakistan, during the war with the Soviets; by the mid-1990s they still maintained a substantial presence in Peshawar. They were financed and equipped mainly by the United States, which was interested in funding groups fighting the Soviet-installed government, and by Saudi Arabia. Most of this military aid was channeled through the Pakistani government and went to the Muslim fundamentalist groups. In the early 1990s the United States largely withdrew support from the Afghans. Saudi Arabia and Iran still finance different groups within the mujahideen. The Taliban emerged as a dominant rebel movement in 1994 and gained control of most of Afghanistan by 1996.

I hope they find who ever did it and kill them swiftly. My sister was almost killed. I wasn't sure all morning till just about a half hour ago when my dad called and said she was alright. She works on wall street in a building 5 minutes from the trade centers. I'm all for swift revenge. But I thank god that my sister is alive. And I pray for all the lives that were lost. So please don't spurt out solutions on what should be done even though we are all angry right now. This is our governments fault for it over seas policies. Anyway I say lets greive for our lost lives and clean up and then go after the perpatrators. Also I work as a mechanic for American Airlines in Reno and I am sitting at home now wondering if there was any crew member that I knew on those aircraft. Well just thought I throw in some comments on things that I have and active interest in. God bless and remember just because we are Americans doesn't mean we are imune to harm. It's just the opposite. We have it so good here and we seem to forget that at times. Anyone who is on the forum with family involved my prayers go out to you.

I am so mad :|! No negotiation. No pleading. My announcement to the world would be this. After we have found out who did this we will destroy your country. No peace. Nothing will be left. And anyone who doesn't like the Nukes are charged. These people crying about no nukes are crazy. What difference does it make? Whats to stop them from going to a big amusment park and killing thousands there. To defend my home, our country, no one would be allowed to get away with this. No peace. The only response is "Scorched Earth". I would assure you nothing would be left of the country who did this. Nothing would be left. We defend our own. Damn it. For every one of our dead 10,000 I would take of theirs. Its time for war. Plain and simple.

How hard would it be to get 3 or so people as normal passengers on a flight. Then burst into the cockpit, knock out hte pilots, and take control of the planes? Weapons wouldn't even be needed.

Ok, without using nukes... Napalm, mustard gas and strategic attacks on ALL locations that harbor terrorists. Get the list from the CIA and make sure at least 50,000 terrorists and their lackeys are left dead? The organization that takes credit for it....all members would be executed except for the leaders...the leaders would be burned alive and broadcasted live to all the nations as a sign of what will happen to you when you behave the way they have...

I think that the US has enough Technology and military stradegy to avoid using Nukes. There is a better way to avoid wasting innocent lives as well as the lives of our military.

That's what I want to know. Why bother having airport security at all if several people can board and hijack a plane at the same time with what appears to be great ease. Was this an inside job?

Some of you are a bunch of fvcking brainless, useless, oxygen-wasting MORONS.
I agree that punishment should be swift and deadly, but NOT nuclear weapons for the love of Christ!! Do you know what that could start? Possible nuclear attacks on the US.

Jesus...I am glad some of you aren't in power.

Without guns, there's no way every passenger on that plane would sit idly by and let these guys run the plane in the WTC. There must have been guns.
