What do you think the Democrats will get done before 2008

What, if anything, do you people they will manage to accomplish? I think it'll be tough to get stuff by Bush...what's your guys' take? As long as they don't raise taxes or screw with business I could care less what else they do...

minimum wage increase
some bush tax cuts will expire
tax deduction for college tuition (with the $ coming from the above)
medicare will be allowed to negotiate with drug companies

and I feel like capital hill will see a lot less partisan warfare as people are forced to compromise if they want to get anything done. I'm also crossing my fingers that we'll see an investigation into Cheney's top secret energy council.

I think we will see an era of 90's like grid lock.

Both parties have to work together on Iraq, which I think they will.
Look for moderates on both sides to forge a plan with Bush.

On anything else Bush can just veto. Might give them the wage hike.
But any tax increases or other liberal type dreams will not happen.

Also any Democrat attemtps to get rid of NSA or Patriot Act etc play right into the hands of Republicans who can paint the Democrats as weak on defense.

Personally I hope the Dems try to run hog wild and Bush vetos them to death. Thereby setting up a clear choice in 2008.
But if the Dems play it down the middle 2008 becomes that much harder for Republicans.

my guess, mandatory gay marriages, each person is forced to marry an illegal immigrant of the same sex.
deep fried abortions become new fast food fad hit.
north korea invades and burns washington by next december.

Unfortunately for you, it's not up to them, it's up to Bush.

A lot of the Democrats who won today were moderates or maybe even considered right-leaning. I agree with the minimum wage, medicare, etc., but it'll be interesting to see what else they do.

To many Democrats are against that.

Only the far left wants us out tomorrow. And the Democrats who won are NOT far right candidates, but very conservative for Democrats.

Whatever they do, it better be to make things "better"

"Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it"

Now they get what they most fear...they have to work with Bush to get anything done....

So does Bush have less power now or more?

Patriot act disembowels rights our founders fought a revolutionary war to obtain. Those authoritarian practices can burn in hell. If you want to fight Islamic Jihad then seal our borders and kill every last one of them in their homes, not by invading us in ours.

Minimum wage increase, which of course will cuase a rise in the overall price of goods. But we'll "feel good" because we did something.

Tax hikes, which means not only are you paying more for your goods but your taking home less. But the lazy of the country will be getting more money, so I guess we'll "feel good" because we did something.

Gun bans, because you certainly dont want your subjects armed! But we'll "feel good" because we've taken a major step is stopping crime and stripping Rights from citizens.

Open Borders, because hey everyone who comes here is good honest folk. Increase in crime, undermining of American culture, more money spent on "feel good" programs to help the poor. And a huge injection to the D voter base when 30 million illegals get permanent Green Card.

Defund the military and pull out of Iraq. Send a strong message to the terrorists of the world America no longer has the spine to stand up for itself. Iraq will become a haven of terrorist activity. Iran will get The Bomb, and North Korea will be bolder then ever. And why shouldnt they, overnight we've become a nation of cowards. Expect the next 9/11 to be nuclear, but fear not for we shall issue strong words to the offenders.

I dont know what all we've lost tonight, but I think we've just lost the war on radical islam, and we're well and truly fvcked.

Get done? Not much. Gridlock baby!!!

Except find out the truth hopefully.

Hey if things do get done...it will be bi-partisan. As it was with Reagan and Dem House and as it was with Clinton and the Rep House.

Minimum wage increase for starters
GOP will finally have to vote on bills they normally would rather not come out of committee, and they won't be able to put poison pills into good bills to get dems to vote against them.

The most sigificant thing I'd like to see them do is to prevent Bush & Co from doing further damage to democracy in the US over the next couple of years. Legislative gridlock FTW.

So, it's the Democrats' fault that your moronic hero put us so far into debt that China now owns both Washington, DC and NYC? And, by the way, no human named George Bush has ever won a war.😉 We've been losing this "war" since the day George W. Gump decided he wanted to play war.

Getting our troops out of Iraq is a HUGE mistake IMO.

It is going to cost the U.S in the long-run.

We need to make the best of this illegal war. We destroyed a country. We must fix it.

Dems cannot take troops out of Iraq. I don't know why Americans don't get it. The president runs the military. Democrats can only ask questions, the answers still have to come from the president. The problem with GOP is that they weren't asking the hard questions.

Who's going to pay for his war, if the House votes against the spending bill unless it has conditions?

Good point, forgot about that. You're probably right, it'll be conditional. It could be related to the war (dates to begin withdrawl) or unrelated (pass the spending bill in exchange for Bush concessions on something like minimum wage)...

I don't think the dems will tie war funding to things like the minimum wage; they would tie it to war policy.

Not publicly, but none of us really knows what goes on behind closed doors 🙂
