And if you go with Luke or Lucas, you can always call him Luca as a nickname.

I think the #1 rule to naming a child is to NOT name a child a name that you like. Instead, name your child a name that you yourself would want to have. Don't name your kid "Apple" or "Skid Rowe" because they are cute or funny. Honestly, as a man do you want to be called "Apple"? Probably not.

I surprisingly like that name. Very modern but not too "out there"
I also like Ethan, Ian, Tyler, Aiden

Mike, Matt, Billy and Sam beat up Ethan, Ian, Tyler and Aiden while the latter four are on their way to brunch on Sunday in their cable knit sweaters and abercrombie trousers.

hey now :p The names are not that weird... and they are better than BillyBob or BillyJohn... no offense if anyones name is BillyBob or BillyJohn

:D
To me those names scream out abercrombie and fitch waspy kids that would not have survived my high school
;)

Doesn't matter, because Ethan, Ian, Tyler and Aiden go to a private school anyway.

OOOHHH BURRRNN!!:p

reminds me of that Suzanne Vega song,

"My name is Luka I live on the second floor I live upstairs from you Yes I think you've seen me before ..."

So, in that case it would be a girl's name.

Yes, its Luka Vs. Luca (the first is Hungarian girl name, the later is Italian Boy name..)

I've never met anyone called Luka, but Luca is a (fairly uncommon) girl's name in Hungary.
On the other hand, it is a boy's name in Italy, the Italian guitarist and composer Luca Turilli is one of the numerous famous male Lucas in existence. The name Luca also has two different pronunciations.

Luka with a K is a guy's name in serbian, russian, etc.

Although it might not be a good name in the US where hardheaded kids in kindergarten (meh, adults too for that matter :p ) think that name ending in A == girl.

Good rule.

Another good rule - don't give your kid a family name for his first name and then call him by his middle name. My parents did that. Called me by my middle name because they didn't want people to call me Matt like my uncle. It has been a lifelong annoyance, having to explain why I go by my middle name every time someone learns my first name. And I don't even like my middle name!

Oh well, at least my mom didn't let my dad name me Darryl like he wanted to.

Oh yeah, speaking of giving your kid a name that you yourself would want to have... I think I'd really like my name to be Thor. It's such a tough sounding name. My wife refuses to name our first son that though. :(

My oldest son is named Hayden Christopher.

Our thought was that if he hated the name Hayden, he could always use the more-common name Chris or Christopher. That being said, he seems to like the name Hayden so far.

Edit: Our second son is named Brandon Patrick.

No - that's first and middle. Don't you have a middle name?

My sister gave her two sons two middle names each... four names total (first, middle, middle, last). That's just wrong. :p

Parents who give their kids common names with uncommon spellings forcing their children to spell out their name for the rest of their lives should be barred from having children.

What do you think of this name for him? (obviously it works in EU... but the states is the issue here).
Anyway, how about other name suggestions?
and I remmember seeing here once a cool site which had charts for child's name popularity with graph over the years for every inputed name... anyone remmembers the link?

Personally I don't like Luca, but it is not for me to decide. If that is the name you want you son to have then name him that. My fiance and I have decided on the names Dalton (unsure of middle name) and Jeofery for a boy and for a girl we like Reagan Brianne or Gabriella Grace

Rebekah is a common alternate spelling to Rebecca.

Personally I've never heard of it and I'm going to go out on a limb and say in the vast majority of the US if you asked someone how to spell that name they would spell it Rebecca thus requiring her to spell it constantly. Trust me, it's a pain in the ass, I've been doing it my whole life.

i don't think he'd like being named luca. he might hate you when he's older.

i'd say lucas, but i don't really like the variations of luke (or the name luke) in general... however, they are more doable than "looooooooka"

Dally?
Ponyboy?
Darry?
Sodapop?
Two-Bit?

Not a fan of the film The Outsiders?

Our kids are named:
girl: Kyra Alix (rhymes with Tyra, as in Tyra Banks)
boy: Christian Alexander
girl: Katelyn Marie
boy: Corey Thomas
girl: Kelly Joy

so far, only the oldest has complained and her complaint is that people sometimes pronounce her name with the "ear" sound instead of the "eye" sound.

I am going to be old fashioned and not give my kid a middle name. Then, when(if) he gets confirmed, he can pick his middle/confirmation name.

I think that he meant Hayden and CHristopher could both be first names. Also Brandon and Patrick could be first names. I can't trust a man with two first names.

Just don't be a dumbf*ck and name the child "Seven". Anyone who names their child Seven needs to beaten over the head with a bag of nickels.
