He's probably hella cool. If he hasn't wasted his time with all that other nonsense I bet he's done some cool and unique things...either that or he's got some freaky wild thoughts rolling around in his head.

You said you wanted honesty, so here goes. DUMP HIM, NOW!!!! Too many men con some hardworking woman into supporting them finacially, while they lay around drinking beer, wasting their life, and generally screwing off. Think about this, if this was your son, how long would YOU let him remain at home? I toss his ass out the door, along with his clothes, whether I was his parent, girlefriend, boyfriend, whatever. Life is tough, No one owes anyone else a living once they are an adult. The defintion of an adult is someone who is personally responsible for themselves AND their actions. Anyone who does not take responsibility for themselves and expects anyone else, OR the government to take care of them, is a child regardless of their age, and thus should be treated like one. MY 2 cents. :disgust:

I think he's 18, and has his whole life in front of him, so most likely, when he finds his niche, he will be just fine.

Sounds like he just needs time to find out what he wants in life.
As long as he doesn't fall into the wrong crowd while he's trying to determine this he should be okay.
Heck just throw him a copy of EQ, at least that will pass the time while he's getting his life together.
:)

it's nice that you care, as long as you're aware that there's nothing you can do to change him. maybe he's taking longer to grow up than you, or maybe he's content with who he is. in your description of him, you didn't say if he was happy or not. if he is, there is nothing in the world you can do to change him. if he's not, well, basically the same thing applies. if he wants to do something meaningful with his life, it's only going to be when he decides he wants to. but there are a lot of people out there who fit the description of your friend. do they all just have unrealized potential? maybe that's the life they're meant to lead, and they're satisfied. maybe they can't do anything more than what they're doing. the world most of us live in would be a pretty dirty place without janitors, garbage collectors, and dishwashers. you have multiple options, but the two most likely ones are these: you can leave it alone and just enjoy his friendship, or you can prod him to do more with his life, which will probably just annoy him to the point of ceasing to be your friend and probably won't change him at all. or maybe you should show him this thread, and see what he thinks of it.

I think guy is in for one big shock when he is forced to provide for himself. But then again from the sounds of it it may not happen until hes 40.

18 years old
Lives with his parents - normal
Has no job - normal
hos no goals - very normal
Goes to community college part time - normal, some just wants to start out slow to see how college lives are like. :D
Can't bench 100lbs - normal
Cant swim - normal
Can't ride a bike - very unusual
Can't change the oil in his car - normal
Never had a girlfriend - normal
Never been kissed - I don't believe this to be true. His parents must be really hate him if he never has a kiss in his life. ;)

Please, tell me what you think of him by this desription. Feel free to be brutally honest. Just wanted to see what the rest of the world thinks, so please don't lie to save his feelings, he's not reading it.

Everything is okay/avg/normal except for the fact that he has no job nor goals in life. At 18, you better be looking to do something with your life...

Hpw do you barely have a girlfriend?

Maybe she's desperately trying to escape from his impenetrable fortress of solitude and only has a few more chains to chew through so she can tell the UN about his diabolical plans to take over the earth, but he can only barely foil her attempts by catching up to her on rollerblades as she runs.

Doesn't he have anything he's ever wanted to do? I couldn't live with myself if I didn't have anything to do. Seems like a complete, honest loser to me.

That sounds like at least 60% of the 18 year olds I know. That sounds like a lot of 20-somethings I know too (except for the living with parents part).

Some people just lack motivation for certain things.

I think I'm going to start a thread detailing all of the things that I do well, that most others don't. Considering most notfred posts are all about his judgement of others, I think that fits in well with the narcisistic ethos.

About myself?

18 years old > 16
Lives with his parents > True
Has no job > Unfortunately true at this time, but will have one again this summer (hopefully)
hos no goals > Has plenty of goals (doing well in school, learning PHP and MySQL are some of them)
Goes to community college part time > Still in high school (10th grade)
Can't bench 100lbs > probably true, never tried but I'm pretty sure I couldn't
Cant swim > can swim, but not really well
Can't ride a bike > enjoys riding his bike, and does it in his (unfortunately almost nonexistant) spare time
Can't change the oil in his car > doesn't have a car, but knows how to change oil and headlights ... and that's about all
Never had a girlfriend > Unfortunately true (I need to get out more)
Never been kissed > Again, unfortunately true

So, I guess I'm just too geeky and need to get out more, huh?
