Since Canon is the favorite brand among us, I would like to get opinion from you guys.

Personally, I think their big gun is pretty impressive. i.e. Pro 1 but the Elf series is....bleh :( The movie mode still sucks compare to other brands...and doesn't appear to have any major upgrade at all :(

I might get S1 IS, if the price is right.....think what I can do with IS lense, taking night shot without tripod :D

The PowerShot S1 IS looks like it will totally kill the sales of the Minolta Dimage Z1 once it's released. It's got killer optical zoom, and a VERY impressive movie mode!

The PowerShot Pro1 doesn't interest me, though. The ONLY way that I'd pay on $1,000 on a digital camera is by getting a Digital SLR like the Nikon D70 or Digital Rebel.

Of course, I'm sure that the PowerShot A75 will become a favorite with the Canon fanboys on a sub-300 budget, though.

i like my sd100, looks like the only thing they changed on the sd110 was that print and share button.

Yep, same Sony-made 8MP sensor as well (as the F828). I would like to see if Canon got around the purple fringing problem Sony had. Hrmm... is CA limited to the lens design, sensor design or both? In-camera software maybe?

Both. CA is pretty easy to fix in software though. There's no reason Canon couldn't implement an algorithm into their processing scheme to eliminate it in-camera.

All I have to say is, meh. Bring on the next-gen 10D and 300D please!

Edit: The new Pro 1 and S1 IS put the fate of the G-series in jeopardy.

I think the new Pro 1 is the replacement for the G series. The S1 IS is a pretty interesting camera, my friend just got the Z1 and he was raving about it (haven't tried it). I'm worried about the Pro 1 suffering from F828-like problems and also worried that the S500 will have problems like the G5/S50.

HAHA! You're joking, right? Phil is terrible at writing reviews when they hit the shelves.

Yes, the S1 was just announced yesterday. It's similar to their old Pro90 IS.

Drools @ the S1. Especially if we can get a good Dell deal going, be a very nice upgrade from my A60 till I can afford an SLR.

Specs are impressive but I wanna see pics before I commit.

I'll probably have to sell it to help fund my new purchase. I might sell my 28-70mm f/2.8 L too. I've got a few things I want to get, and I don't see how I'd be able to swing a new camera until the end of summer. By then I might just wait until after Photokina in September and see what happens, or I might just wait until the new year. A new camera isn't something I need right away, just something I'd like to have.

2 opinion columns on the Digital Camera industry, in the Feb. Computer Shopper magazine. One of them is convinced that the Foveon CMOS chips will soon put CCDs out of the picture!

Well that is just great...i just bought my G5 like 5 months back...I would definitely want to buy the 8MP model Pro-1.

I dont use movie mode at all, if i want that i will buy a digital video camera..the two should be seperate anyway...until they can make them both the best they can be togethor.

Guess i need to sell my G5 and accessories to fund a new camera! :)

You shouldn't get caught up in the megapixel myth. Megapixels don't make the picture!

CASE IN POINT!

Who is making the Polaroid Foveon?? I remember reading that Japanese companies won't support it. The Chinese were eager to make Foveon digicans tho.
