What do you think of restaurants who demand a tip?

I absolutely HATE it when a restaurant demands a tip, especially if it had poor service.

I put anywhere from 10-20% tip depending on service, wait time, etc etc.

When they ask for tip, I just say sorry, can you print out a new receipt? Then I put a big zero for tip.

What do you guys do.

What I really don't like is when you are a teenager and go out to eat and they see that you are a group of kids and automatically add the tip to the receipt. It hasn't happened in a while but it really pisses me off when it does.

Expects it? As a pizza delivery driver I expected it.. if people didn't tip you'd be paying a $3 delivery charge instead of $1 to pay for my gasoline and maintenence fees.

Most waiters/waitresses get less than $2.50 an hour. They depend on the gratuity to actually get money at their job.

That said, I'd probably get pissed if someone specifically asked me for a tip or automatically added it to the bill, which would result in me giving a nice fat tip of $0.

Whatever they do to compensate for their employees bitching about not making enough money is fine with me. If the service costs more than what I value it to be if prices are raised, I simply will take my business elsewhere.

If you don't tip, please let the waiter know in advance. Don't be a coward and run off without leaving a tip.

It's common knowledge that tipping is standard practice, so if the waiter serves you, you pay for the service.

Best solution: Separate menus for non-tippers. Those menus will have higher prices.

I'm not saying you should tip us but most pizza joints only have 7 or so drivers and they all talk to each other and they've more than likely worked at the other pizza joint and more importantly.... they're alone with YOUR food for at least 5 minutes. Maybe you should consider ---- Fast and Free Pickup!

Um, tipping is how a waitress gets their income. My mother is a waitress and her "paycheck" doesn't even exist, its just there to cover her work-insurance. As a matter of fact, she owes a little bit of money every "paycheck". All of the income comes from customers.

Not tipping is being extremely selfish.
