I never "got" Alienware.

But that's because I know how to build my own systems and know how to build as good or better as Alienware does for about half the price.

Their selling points always were a fast processor, crazy amounts of RAM, huge HDDs (who is ever gonna fill up a 4TB HDD?), and a flashy appearance.

Kids love that stuff - parents pay for it. As long as the market is there they will build 'em.

I for one wish that I could more readily acquire parts to build my own laptops. I looked into it a number of years ago and parts were severely limited which is why I ended up with my alienware in the first place.

what s the point of your question?

i m showing my 100% complete Alienware setup. Because i like it.

Most pple replied Alienware are too expensive. I know this, i' m not sayng youu have to buy one and there is no need to point it out cause i don t care about money :)

You are always talking about money, stop it!

are you curious ? "i haven t paid it" means i have not spent money to have my aliens!

So you stole it. Ok, now I understand.

ok, can t fight your nature! :)

Let' talk about your loved money.

How much you paid for your rigs ? Complete setup (monitor-keyb-mouse)

Listen (redacted). You started this thread to brag about your pc.
So answer the question: "How did you get these, since you apparently did not pay for them?"

Good for you :) I prefer a more simple clean design, and I like to build my own computers together. What people use their money on are their own business. If you're happy with your Alienware, why should I say you shouldn't be?

I see your old oversized Alienware and tiny monitor and raise you a custom G20 with i7/970gtx/SSD intel pro and 55" inch TV with a G27 wheel

I'm not sure. I always build my own rigs. The latest is a dual e5-2695v3 which I think cost me under $2k but I already had a lot of the parts.

Hard to say.

I purchased my monitor in 2006 (?), and have been using it ever since, and all of my upgrades have been incremental. I generally don't spend more than $200-300 at a time.

I picked up a gorgeous 27" IPS panel for my wife's computer around 2 years ago for ~$225, and a year before that I assembled a Haswell i3 + H97 + 8GB DDR3 + 500GB spinner + HD7850 + PSU for around $450, all said and done (reused SSD and case). I then sold her older Q6600 + X48 + DDR2 combo for nearly half of the value of the new build.

The 7850 is the sweetspot for the amount of gaming she does; it maxes out Civ5 and runs all Blizzard and most Steam games at max settings very smoothly. Also, when I upgrade my GPU, I have the option of dropping my 7850 into CF.

Shrug. I could care less about Alienware, it's basically just an overpriced Dell in a fancy case. I'm sure it's engineered well (Dell does a fairly good job - I'm using a Dell laptop right now). Just that the price/performance ratio is not for me.

I built my gaming rigs, G3258 OCed, 7950, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD, cheap but amazingly-nice case (RaidMax Cobra). Around $500. I don't really game much, just do DC during the Winter season.

Edit: I'm not 100% against buying pre-builts, when there's significant value involved (50% off list, etc). Just that I rarely find them worth it.

Only ALienware and Asus are selling real Gaming PC. Asus is AW' s only competitor.

I am probably going to buy a full Asus Branded gaming setup as third gaming pc:

- Asus Gaming Monitor (i ll wait for the 4k version)
web360.RGB_color_00055.jpg

- Asus Strix Keyb mouse Headphones

- no decent pc atm, probably going to buy your cheap but cool model (g20)

i don t comment on your setup, i don t consider it a gaming pc setup without a monitor. It s 100% casual, but i liked Asus g20 from the 1st day i saw it.

Good gaming!

ps: sadly Strix Peripheral are different in color from G20 and Rog Monitor ... i don t like it

Your posting photo's anyone can get on the internet, why bother! Again the reason this forum exists is we are do it your selfer's, the original system I could build with half the money.

Only reason I don't is cause I'm waiting, the X99 is old and played out. Like all computer hardware new stuff is coming in, 980 TI is also played out. That and there is no clear great card except the titans(which is a total waste of money).

Went bk and read your reply, you work for Dell? I'm all about the "FREE", also why put a Dell in your sig then?

Northwest Falcon is where it's at as far as pre-made Pc's go.
The whole point for such is really more about support and warranty than anything. The DIY'ers don't need it, we are our own support. But I think Alienware's cases are ugly. I did like the old Predator cases from back in the day, but Alienware today is not what it once was. I don't think the same team even works there anymore. They used to be innovative with unique cooling solutions...like the old mini Air Conditioner they used to put in them

The G20 is the first pre-made PC i've got since the 90's. I just liked the look and size of it and was going to cost me similar to do it myself except I couldn't find a 3rd party case that looked good at all for similar size. Hard to find sizes like that.
