Few things are more hilarious than some scrub who just got an alienware and thinks their rig is top of the line just because of the brand name. There was one of those low end alienwares that had something like a 750TI, and I remember running into this scrub on another forums who was expecting to be able to max out DAI and get 60fps just because he had an alienware. Most would rightfully assume the guy had to be trolling, but no, he was dead serious. This is the ignorance of the average American consumer.

Even the alienware laptops are overpriced. You can get a better deal through Sager.

Northwest Falcon is where it's at as far as pre-made Pc's go.
The whole point for such is really more about support and warranty than anything. The DIY'ers don't need it, we are our own support. But I think Alienware's cases are ugly. I did like the old Predator cases from back in the day, but Alienware today is not what it once was. I don't think the same team even works there anymore. They used to be innovative with unique cooling solutions...like the old mini Air Conditioner they used to put in them

The G20 is the first pre-made PC i've got since the 90's. I just liked the look and size of it and was going to cost me similar to do it myself except I couldn't find a 3rd party case that looked good at all for similar size. Hard to find sizes like that.

+1

I've always just built y own I guess and have vendors I like to use in general.

For Mobos it has been ASUS awhile now.

I just like what I like for various reasons I guess.

There is room in the market for a better line of OEM gaming machines that are more intelligently designed, and for a better price point than Alienware or some of the others. Its a complete joke to try and sell a rig with an I7 that uses a low end GPU as a "gaming PC". That's proof in itself that the ones designing the PC's don't have a clue. They're probably a bunch of old fogies that haven't played a game other than solitaire since 1985 who consider themselves experts in designing gaming PCs. I was talking to a guy that ran a mom and pop PC parts store, and he thinks 2 GPUs that have the same amount of Vram are about the same. The sad part is this guy was in the industry for about 30 years. I suspect its people like this designing alienwares.
