What do you think of garbage odour?

Well, we recycle about 80% of our stuffs, so we only use the curbside service every other week, if that. The bin is outside, and the recyclables are in the garage. No problems so far.

It never sits in my house long enough to be a consistant problem, I have 3 kids and we produce lots of it (and recycle too)
I would fall under the catagory of "too lazy to do anything about it" except take a stinky bag, toss some stuff from laundry room/other bathrooms in it, take it out.

wtf is "odour"? Is that like "odor"?

😛

odour is the Canadian/British spelling of odor.

color -> colour
rumor -> rumour

thanks for the replies, it'd be great if I could have more statistics

otherwise I'll be making them up :laugh:

Ours is in the attached garage, inside of a curbside garage container. The smell doesn't bother me, the container and bag keep everything sealed pretty good.

Well, mister, what do YOU think of garbage odour?

My organic waste sits in a bin inside my garage, and during the warm months (late spring/summer/early fall) the smell is pretty bad, especially during the few days before garbage pickup. I use a little bit of coffee grounds but I'd like to know if there are better ways I could use

REALLY!?!?! WOW!!!!!!! I NEVER KNEW THAT !!?!?!?

(that was sarcasm)

well someone else didn't (not sarcasm)

I put it in my shed...but thats because a raccoon tore the bag up a couple weeks ago and there was spillage in the bin. Now the whole bin smells fucking awful.

Exactly. At home, if anything was to be thrown out that had food on it, it was to at least be rinsed first. Food items, such as coffee grounds or banana peels, were put into a sealed Rubbermaid/Tupperware style container, which were then composted. Recyclables would be washed with the dishes and put in a separate bag.

My apartment is in the same building as a small general store, and I get to use their dumpsters, so nothing ever has to sit around long enough to start to stink.

In the campus apartment, with the first group of people I lived with, the trash stank of decaying food and beer, and was emptied rarely. It would usually get so heavy that something would tear through and it'd start dripping. The kitchen sink even had a garbage disposal, but only myself and one other person used it. Everyone else just threw everything in the trash. What did they do about it? Use the garbage disposal? Rinse stuff off first? Stop wasting food? Take out the trash more often? No. Of course not. They stocked up on air fresheners. That place was a gross museum of odors.
Oh, and the bathroom had an exhaust fan. Guess how often that'd get used.

Perhaps it would help if you set up a poll. But really, garbage stinks, and there is too much waste in the world today.
