Well Taiwan and China are distinct cultures right?

Politically, cuisine wise Taiwanese food is a branch of Chinese food. After all Chinese people moved to the island a few centuries ago.

Yes but aren't there native Taiwanese people there as well?

They no longer even offer an antipasto. I only agreed to go there because I thought, "I can always get the antipasto." :(

Sorry - Olive Garden licks balls.

Comparing that to real Italian food is akin to comparing Red Lobster to a real, local New England seafood joint.

Speaking of which - my OG and RL gift card stash is piling up. I think I have around $400 in OG GC and $300 in RL GC.

What should I do????

I have considered re-gifting. Somehow I just can't do it.

I always feel like they'll come in handy some day.

True. When the zombie apocalypse is upon us, you'll be the guy with the nasty tasty bread sticks and hush puppies to see you through.

Here is a thought: Drain some spicy Kimchi and frying it with some good sausage and mushrooms. Sound good anyone?

Asian/Indian food has been the top trend for the last few years. Korean and Vietnamese food is especially making a splash. Pho restaurants are popping up everywhere.

That is correct. Fusion - to take take two perfectly good foods, bring them together, and wreck both.

fusion cuisine is no different than fusion as an energy source: an impossible dream that leaves nothing but shattered dreams and wrecked lives in its wake.

A Latin friend of mine told me once that Tapas are plates of snacks that bar chefs would prepare using left over food.

Back then, if you were sitting outside, the waitress would bring it to you and you'd set the little plate on your beer to keep the flies out, sort of as a "top".

I guess they've evolved a little since then.
