Mid 80s Chevy Nova? Why?

I included that because my buddy used to own one. It was incredibly slow, very ugly, and handled like garbage. And the tires/wheels were TINY, even by econobox standards. Eh, I guess to each his own...I just don't like them.

Ah, but it was never made to fast, stylish, or a great handler, and I agree with your assesment. But it was far from a low-quality unreliable POS. For what it was supposed to be, an inexpensive point A to B appliance, it was very good.

you do understand that this thread is a WORST car ever right??

nothing in either of your posts seems to indicate that you understand that.

I already posted my entry for worst car in modern times: the Ford Tempo with its inexcusable Escort based suspension, carrying even more weight, that wears out every little piece in 1/4 the time that a well designed suspension would.

Aztek? You guys have got to be kidding me. They're extremely reliable and very nice to drive.

Looking bad != worst car ever.

I'll throw my hat into the Yugo ring. A truly disposable car!

Black88GTA did include it in his list. I then asked why without quoting his original post.

Volare !

Any mid seventies to mid eighties Chrysler with lean burn, yes the Yugo was extremely poor.

I don't know if you could classify it as the worst car, that honor probably goes to the Yugo, but the worst flop to ever come out of Detroit probably goes to the Edsel.

I saw a VW Thing on the road a few days ago, that was pretty damn ugly and I'm not sure what 'role' it tried to play back when... but I wouldn't say it's the worst car. It was driveable, and had all the sheet metal (looked clean, even with it's camo-paint job) and it was for sale for $5K I think. I meant to see what it was worth, as I thought it was god awful even for a 'classic'.

My dad owned a VEGA in the 70's. That was a POS. I'd say that one is pretty bad, from my personal experience definitely the worst. But, I can't argue with some of the other choices, as I have no experience.

My roomate in college bought a brand new Yugo. I remember going with him to pick it up and we jumped in and I glanced down at the shifter (it was a 4 speed). There was just a steel shaft sticking straight up with threads at the top.

Me "Um dude they forgot to put the shifter knob on."
The salesman "Oh, this model doesn't come one."
Me "lol".

Ah, wrong. The Escort was based of the VW Rabbit's front suspension. The Tempo was a modified version of the Rabbit's suspension too, but with a different rear suspension set-up to reduce abnormal tire wear in the front.

So were 90% of all other cars built during that time period.

Funny you should say that, most of the people that own those cars loved them. I still have a couple of customers that still drive theirs with 200+ miles on them.

Come on Roger, the Edsel! Give the poor car a break, it suffered from poor quality and lagging sales to even allow the car a decent production run. ;)

The same statement about the Pinto can be said for a lot of cars, but when was the last time you saw a Yugo?

Mine. Biggest POS ever to come out of the factory.

OH WAIT! You mean worst platform ever. Yugo, hands down. I can't believe people would spend money on that thing.

2) Le car

heh my dad had the pleasure of buying into a YuGo car lot (granted only 20%). man my dad got really pissed when they bombed out. even madder at his friend that talked him into it heh.

I remember then doing a Buy one get one free sale. i was like 14-15 (got my license at 14) at the time and my dad telling me he would get me one new. heh i turned it down and got something better.

AMC Pacer, it was a fine car, but the ignition control module would fail at radom times leaving cars and their owner standed. The part cost to fix the problem was less than 12 dollars, but it took six months too long to get a better part in to production.
