What do you think about the South

I've noticed that a lot of people on here view the South as just this assbackwards part of the country where everyone does nothing all day except get drunk, read the Bible, and have sex with their relatives. Living here all of my life I have got to say that is not entirely true..

So what do you think of the South? And those of you who don't live in the US, does the South carry this kind of stigma around the world or is it just what the yanks think of us?

Which parts are true and which parts are not?

When I moved here - I thought this place was pretty fvcking backwards. Still do. Oh well - at least the weather is nice, and the beaches rock 🙂

I like to make fun of it for the stuff the OP mentioned, even though I know that probably only half the people down there are like that 😛.

i love hte south, especially texas. mostly cause i lived there for a majority of my life =P

but i really do miss homemade cornbread and biscuits and the dry heat.

so there is truth to what you said. HAHA...

Here in Mississippi it's just like how it is in the movies....we just sit on the back porch and sweat all day long.

you could always move back... to the nuthern buttwipes?

i heard the girls are easier in the south and dumber. You do speak slower and less shyt gets done. I dont know about boning relatives though. And there are a damn lot of religious nuts. chewing tobacco and carrying around shotguns went out of style in the earlier part of the 1900s.

thats about it.

i'll have to disagree. while texas is indeed texas, texas is also part of the south. we're south, with our own unique flavor added in.

I didn't live in the US prior - living in the US is a different experience all together, let alone the south 😛

I don't mind the south.

it's that vast expanse of land between the east coast and west coast where I really wouldn't mind the earth folding in on itself...

It's more that some places are like that and some are not. Mathematically, for any given city:

Lim (Redneckedness) = infinity
population->0

Lim (Redneckedness) =~ 10%
population -> inf

The South is full of religious conservatives that like to nothing more than setting "moral" values for the whole country.

I lived in Florida for couple of months, but never been in the real southern states like Alaaabammma

Not really. I could go out into the parking lot of the plant where I work and find plenty of gun racks and skoal. Some communities still close the schools on the first day of deer hunting season (not even joking).

I lived in yankee ville til I went in the military, and currently lived here in the south for the past ten or so years. South isn't any different than up north. More of a difference would be between dumb ass city folks 😀 vs. people that live out in the unpolluted air.
