Sci-fi > Fantasy

However, the girls who do the fantasy dress-up thing are almost infinitely hotter than their sci-fi counterparts.

or star wars, and fantasy could be things like D&D people and such.
A lot of people would argue that SW is really fantasy.
lets not get into that. You should just vote along the lines of what you think is sci-fi and fantasy.

Defining anything on this board is next to impossible.
No, LET'S get into it! The poll is going to be tremendously skewed, because the nitwits around here think Star Wars is Sci-Fi.

"But as Lucas and Producer Kurtz quickly point out, Star Wars is not science fiction but space fantasy. 'Space fantasy allows you more rein to say what you want to say,' explains Kurtz. 'So that's what we call it.'"

Sure, and you can also call it a space opera, or space western. But if there are shields, blasters, and spaceships, I consider it sci-fi.

sci-fi.

there's good and bad examples of both, but I've found more good sci-fi novels/movies than fantasy.

I think fantasy has really stagnated in the past 25 years and much of it seems to rely on the same old tired character archetypes and stories. which is not to say there aren't exceptions or that some sci-fi isn't guilty of the exact same thing, but it seems to be more common in fantasy lit than sci-fi.
