What do you own that most people can't understand why you paid so much for it?

EOS 20D, 4 lenses, battery grip, 4GB CF Ultra II Card

Its overkill...

And about 300 DVDs - which with a netflix subscription are just flat out unneccessary

Possibly my computer actually.

Next, maybe even importing a car from England because states don't have this car around here.

A lot of ppl don't understand why i pay a lot for my computer and rebuild every 3 months? or why i have a $450 cell phone but eh.

That's my next useless toy! I've had two volume knobs on sets of speakers get all staticy from being used so much I guess. Fortunately Logitech agreed with me that it shouldn't have gone bad after less than a year and sent me a replacement. But this would be really nice to stick on the desk behind the mouse to adjust the volume!

Spent over $600.00 on multiple blood transfusions for my cat.

His blood was making too many white cells and not enough red. When the drew blood out of him it looked like strawberry soda. They gave him one transfusion of new blood and he got better for a day and then it went white again. They gave him a second, same effect. Brought him home to die, but he didn't. Everyone at work couldn't understand why I spent so much on a pet (I had only had him a couple of years at that point).

I spent $2000 on my cat when his kidneys started failing... he ended up dying 2 weeks later. 🙁

It's all relative anyway, right? To a cyclist a $1500 bike is probably on the low end. To anyone in the coffee industry $3k is cheap, .

i agree

what do you do with all that coffee stuff
do you roast youtr own
or grow your own?

I do roast my own, and while I have a coffee plant it's just for novelty purposes. This is what I have in my apartment away from home, but I am putting together a more substantial bar back at home.

what does that huge metal machine do wiht all the levers (?) coming out of it? Good lord that's huge!

You must really love your coffee! 😛

god, i too have spent so much on my bike.

look up "chris king compenents" on google.

one rear bicycle hub (the thing that holds the spokes together) cost me about $270.

I have a hard time believing that others couldn't understand spending $600 on your cat. It's not exactly uncommon for pets to require such treatments, and I wouldn't hesitate to empty my bank account for my cats.

I've spent thousands on pets. I've never regretted it. I agree, I would do it in a heart beat. Our cat is 21 years old and probably won't be around much longer. We just had an ultrasound done and her liver is full of tumors. She's ok now, but we will do the right thing when it's time. She won't be in pain.

I'll give a vote to my Powermate. I got a black one for $39.99, it's fantastic! People are like, you paid $40 for...a knob? Then I show them how it works and they want one 😀

Can you give some examples of how this is useful? I read the reviews and the website. Besides the volume control, I can't see taking my hands off the mouse and keyboard (one hand on each) to reach over and turn a knob and then move back. It slows you down. Can you give specific examples?

Thanks.

haha i should have payed more attention to this thread...

I personally use it just as a volume and mute buttom button. it is just useful becayse it is right there and i do not touch the knob on my speakers they are set to 1 volume and the rest is controlled within windows. While in game i can't use the sound icron in the taskbar (and why would i want to?) and using the volume control on my keyboard casuses the software volume visual to popup lagging any game i play while the powermate doesn't. Also the way my desk is the keybaord try stays a lil under the desk so i have to rech under the desk a lil to hit the volume keys.
You can do more however such as go back and forth in webpages which i used for a while, my friend would use it to show me things and i wouldn't have to let go of the mouse evrytime for him to use it lol.
The most intruiging use however is as a JOG and SHUTTLE function in video editing or undue/redo in an imaging program.

and woohoo jeff7181! hope you enjoy it as much as i do. With all the nie things i have on my desk that is what everyoen notices and asks about first especially sine it is constantly strobing 🙂

2000$ in time off work for a girl I was with for 2 weeks.
1000$ in plane tickets for the same girl.
600$ in hotels for said girl.
600$ in gas and food while driving in the US for the previously mentioned girl.
400$ necklace for the girl mentioned above that I was with for 2 weeks and will never see or speak to again.

That was the most awsome 2 weeks I've ever had in my life.

Woot it's finally here!!

I almost forgot the most ridiculous thing of all!

Put me down for $2500 for a custom hand forged replica of Link's Master Sword!!

I dumped a wad on a new Martin guitar in September. My wife couldn't understand why it was so expensive.

Then I played it and she went "Oh." 😀

$2,000 on a custom sword from a video game is probably about the craziest thing I have done yet!

I'm about 6'3" by the way, so this thing is HUGE, and heavy as hell.

No way Link handles this thing one handed!!!
