What do you know about Cosplay?

I guess it is OK unless it involves a fat, hairy, white guy dressing up in various female anime cosutmes. Personally I find cosplay quite weird. I watch anime but the purpose ofpeople who will go at lengths to write fanfiction or do cosplay seems dubious at least.

i was Black Waltz #3 from FF9. The bad-ass black wizard. people liked it well enough.

When someone says "COSPLAY" it reminds me of that creepy site from japan with a guy (im sure) in a FULL anime girl custume.. very disturbing..
 
Legos, star wars and various other "kid toys" are still in use by adults. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

To me, this is the same as the people who had a Klingon wedding, dress up and "become a character" for Star Wars/Trek conventions, get married on Everquest, or ask for advice on AnandTech about having cosmetic surgery to get elf ears. They take something they like(in this case anime), and take it WAYYYYY too far. I find it disturbing personally.

I don't equate this with playing with Legos at all. Unless you're some kind of freakshow nutjob, legos do not become a "part" of you. Many of these other lunatics get so absorbed into these fantasy things that it takes them over, and lose touch with reality.

I exactly. It's one thing for an adult to be into building models out of lego. It's another thing completely when he's got a lego house, lego clothes, and a lego blow-up doll.

Me and roommate are seriously thinking about going this year. Too bad we didn't get our anime website up in time to qualify for a press badge.

Cosplay is harmless, unless you're a fat hairy man beast.

its definately strange - but i guess if your sister is still just a kid, then its just like playing any other make believe game.
