What do you keep in your car to help protect yourself in case of danger?

Dirty sticky pennies, a petrified french fry, 19 semi-functional pens from various banks, half a quart of power steering fluid, dried boogers on the side of the seat, and a completely blackened parking garage receipt.

Feels safe man.

Remote controlled M-60 in the trunk. The day-to-day dangers can be avoided with a shred of common sense, but you never know when you'll have to take out a gang of Aryan meth dealers.

In or on?

Door locks and a gas pedal.

KT

Exactly.

Bust my windows? Fine.
Your body will probably break my windshield too. 🙁

I always to have to laugh in GTA. I mean, does NOBODY roll around with locked doors? I mean hell, once I start moving in my car, the doors automatically lock. It's not even that special of a car. lol

Blanket, 3 tarps, mattress pad, flashlight, tape measure, 1 1/2 complete sets of sockets & socket wrenches, adjustable wrench. Hammer. Big fucking hammer. Jumper cables. 2 sets of jacks. Jack stands. Tow rope. 2 heavy duty ratcheting tie down straps, multimeter, screwdrivers, electrical tape, electrical contact cleaner, wd40, funnel, knife, another knife (never know when I'm going to come across a road kill deer that's fresh - need to be able to cut those back straps out quickly.) And, a large assortment of other crap that I'm not quite bored enough to think about - spare car fuses, some fishing tackle, spare tire, at the moment, I also have a heavy post pounder in there. (And the list goes on and on.) Grand Caravans (at least my current model) have quite a bit of storage under the floor - I have it completely packed with tools & stuff.

Fleece blanket, survival blanket, small shovel, multitool, window breaking tool, flashlight, first aid kit, ratchet tie downs, rope, reflective triangle, tire iron, jumper cables, bunch of other shit that I should go through and clean out.

I have a very tiny baseball bat behind my passenger seat in the pocket thingy. It would probably break upon hitting someone once, and I would probably not remember it is there in event of an emergency.

I've considered getting a pistol for home protection, but I don't know that I'd ever CCW or keep one in my car... I fervently support the rights of others to do so, but I'm not sure it's right for me.

Kind of makes me uncomfortable.

Then again, given certain circumstances arising I would be desperately wishing I'd had a different attitude.

EDIT: Upon looking at the thread more I realize we're talking about more than just self-defense.

I have a first aid kit, a travel pillow, an atlas, a solar powered flashlight, extra straws, and some other nonsense like that.

I base the items I carry based on season. If it's winter I do keep a sleeping bag in the car and a shovel or two.
