Any plans for your cars this Spring/Summer?

Lot's of things I want to do, but I want to buy a house, so it might not happen. Still, there's always a chance. :)

2009 RX-8 Black

I finally want to tint the windows, but am afraid of bubbles forming on the back window. (~$120) Going to go for a blacked out look.

I also want to try and detail the car myself. I have damage on the car now, but it still looks nice. Both my bumpers have been hit on the street, and although they are in perfect shape, the paints been scraped off. I got quoted $650 to fix them up + touch up a few spots, but I don't really care. It's not that horrible.

I'm looking for suggestions on detailing products.

If you are talking about the dot matrix on the back glass, my M3 has that. The best solutions are to paint them then tint or use vinyl on the inside of the glass prior to tinting.

There is a shop that is really good and mentioned online in some of the dot matrix threads, but I think they charge $500+ for an average car.

I am not sure what I will be doing in the spring this year, I may be moving so probably just minor things. I eventually want to do a 3.91 rear end or supercharge it...I am leaning toward the 3.91 as at a 0-60 in the 4's and a 13 second quarter I am pretty much quick 'enough'.

My uncle has a dot matrix printer.

Stay on topic not the place to troll about...

This is definitely on my radar for the WRX as well. Need upgraded injectors and fuel pump with a new tune...

Yeah, I'm looking at a top feed fuel rail, 1200cc injectors, an Aeromotive 340lph pump, a standalone ECU and a tune. I'd like to do cams as well...350-400whp would be fun. :D

Only thing I plan on getting this spring is a professional detail service for my 2005 Mustang GT.
http://www.doubletakeauto.com/detail_service.html

I gotten the platinum package the last 2 years and been overjoyed with the results.

Damn! I wish I had something like that around me. I offered a guy $700 to detail my RX-8 and he said no, that's not enough. Guy pissed me off and I stopped going to that forum after that. (He wanted $1k even.)

I understand they do great work, but my paint was in great condition and the interior immaculate at the time. There was no reason to be charging that much.

autopia or meguiarsonline.com should have detailers in NYC for around $100-200 for typical full details.

For me, I will be doing some body work to fix a few leaks, then a paint job. Somebody backed into my driver's side taillight over New Year's too, so there's that to replace as well. (87 Caprice)

I plan to install disc brakes on our Jeep and hopefully go do some camping/hiking/off roading.

Need to push myself to start the 3SGTE conversion for my Camry. Even if it means small things like sourcing a spare 92-96 Camry sub frame, an ST205 engine, and fabricating mounts, axle carrier bracket, down pipe and front mount interference, etc outside of the car.

I'm on the fence about doing wiring myself or just paying $500 for a turn key plug and play harness. Kind of defeats the experience just paying someone for it. Im at home with electronics work but it's still tedius soldering and sealing over 100 wires, esp since I want to maintain factory color codings.

The only thing I haven't really sorted out between the 5SFE and 3SGTE is the differences in the AC amplifier connections; Toyota isn't very specific on the actual signal content and only gives pin names, and what those pins do is lost inside a "black box" that is just a empty square labeled "AC AMPLIFIER" on the diagrams with no internal details. Other than that, there is thankfully very little body/engine harness integration and all the basic EFI relays remain the same.

I've been studying and planning this for years and know pretty much every little detail I need to solve. Now it's just a matter of actually buying stuff and taking time off work. Selling my house and moving closer to work/university to start a masters, so now isn't the best time to start stockpiling large heavy things :(
