Heh, new condos are going for $1,000,000 here in Columbia, MD.

That is surprising. Especially since maryland is the shithole of the country. I mean hell if balimore is the toilet of the country, what is columbia, the toilet water?

MD really is a crappy state, there's no denial there. But you have cities like Bethesda, Columbia, Ellicott City, and a few more that are nothing like most of Maryland. You've obviously never been to Columbia. Some people on this forum hate the city because they have a problem with the chain stores everywhere. I personally like it because I've lived here my whole life and this is exactly the kind of city I want to rasie my children in when I have some.

BTW, Columbia was rated #4 in best places to live in America. I posted about it a few months ago.

I went to UMBC, lived in catonsville. Went to columbia almost 3-4x a week. Had clinicals at HCGH, and now I live in owings mills. Theres just as many ghetto thugs in columbia as other places. Only difference is that they cant take the metro. Instead they take the bus.

Yes it was ranked #4 i read that article. Columbia might be 'awesome' when compared to baltimore. But any city is 'awesome' compared to baltimore.!

from both those pictures I would say they don't do it regularly. Looks to me like there was a gathering of some sort at the one house (perhaps some remodelling or something) and the second house probably was loading something heavy into the car.

Why are so many in this thread bragging about how much housing costs in their area? That's incredibly lame. The OP's profile says he's from Tennessee. $150k-$300k is a NICE house around there. I don't care if studio apartments cost $1 million where you're at. Do a little traveling and wise up.

You mean by the wear of the grass you can tell? I don't get it either but trust me, it's every other day. They seem to park in diff. locations every so often in the lawn though.

Some love, thank you! I feel sorry for people who spend that much money on a house and make payments 'till the day they die :brokenheart: I pity no fool!

Oh, and I'd like all of you to know I live 3miles from my job and fill up the car with gas every month.......... I OWN MY HOUSE :)

I'm still amazed that people lead such petty lives that they really care if the neighbors park on their own lawns. Why would you care??? What if they put in an asphalt or concrete pad in the location where they've parked the car... would that make it all better? My old neighborhood: once a week, street cleaners came through. It was an older neighborhood, so most of the driveways were only large enough for one car. Everyone parked their second cars on the lawn (rather than park 2 blocks away)... I never gave it a second thought.

That's right. I live near the OP (city wise) and you know what? People are generally nice to one another and you can get a lot more for your money here than most similar areas in the country. $1mil for a condo? Rofl, $1 mil would buy you a freaking mansion here.

I don't think it looks good to park in your front yard but then again I grew up lower middle class so I don't care too much about things like that to be honest about it.

Seriously, WhyTF would you park on a lawn if you have a garage, a driveway, or a street? Most people try to take care of their lawns, not use it as an extension of the street.

Answer the question. Why wouldn't you buy a house in an area where people are parking on their lawns?

Maybe Im just a spoiled brat, but to me, it represents trashiness.

Why does it represent trashiness?

The "why" doesn't matter. Perception is a huge factor in property values. If people believe that parking in the lawn is trashy (and most people do, including myself) then it has a negative effect on property values because it will drive away higher-income families from wanting to live there.

Whether you think it is fair or right is completely irrelevant.

In this neighborhood most are floridians who cashed in on their houses there and moved here and are retired. That's why I chose the area! No rednecks except these folks across the street. Like I said, I'm always the lucky one! If I could report this without EVER the neighbors finding out, I would do so.

Personally I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood like that anyway, where people judge others by the look of thier front yard.

It's absolutely brilliant!!! Drive down property values in your neighborhood. Have the house reassessed. Pay lower taxes.. AND, it's still the exact same house you live in.
Brilliance.

You're kidding me right? Trust me, you'd care if you owned your home and wanted to be surrounded by a halfway decent neighborhood. You'd also give a damn if you were trying to sell your house in this type of situation :Q

Imagine the Realtor showing your house to sell it and as they pull up to the driveway, the possible buyers see 2-3 vehicles parked on the front lawn across the street??? Makes ya' think twice eh?

More power to them. We park on our lawn, drive though our lawn, whatever.
I don't think people should give a ******. They should be able to park there if they want.

I'd be more concerned if they were tearing up their lawn or if they didn't mow their lawn or someting like that.

Nope not at all. But perhaps it is because I live in Hawaii, There ain't much land here to go around. Parking on grass is not that big of a deal.

**tosses you a beer**......... the stuff you're smoking must be too strong for your brain to comprehend typing that BS!

I wonder what would happen if I had a party at my house (1 night) and had everyone park on the front lawn parallel to the house  I guarantee that I'd have a notice/warning on my door the next day...... If not a fine to go with it **LMFAO**

Why does it bring down the value of the community? Do you see what I'm getting at here? People don't question their own learned beliefs. Logically, how does parking in your front yard de-value your property or your neighbor's?

Because noone buying a house wants to live near a redneck that parks in their own front lawn. Potential buyers see it and they move to the next house on their list without even stopping.

It's like these people don't care about the value of the area/community. I can understand if you have a party or something and don't have the space in your driveway you have your friends park in the yard, but this is practically everyday.

Take for example: You're looking to buy a house in the area (yes, it a very nice/decent area) and you see houses with cars parked on the front lawn when they have ample space in the driveway......... What would you think? WTF? or Cool, I like the touch of red sun faded S10 pickup truck against the green grass? :p

My wife or I pull up in the front yard on grocery day. I'm not toting $300 worth of groceries in all the way from my driveway.
