Why does it bring down the value of the community? Do you see what I'm getting at here? People don't question their own learned beliefs. Logically, how does parking in your front yard de-value your property or your neighbor's?

Money, plain and simple. More money brought into the area= better area. People will pass by a place if they see this crap and move to the next town. Less money for the community........ Get it?

And why will they pass by a place if they see "this crap"?

My parents bought a house here about 10 years ago, for around 450k, now its worth about 900k. And I can never hope to buy my own house at this rate. Boo huu.

edit: Hawaii. And the house is like 30 years old. and it was only 2 bedroom 1 bath. since then built a second floor and its not 4 bedroom 2 bath. but the land is what where the money is at.

Seriously, WhyTF would you park on a lawn if you have a garage, a driveway, or a street? Most people try to take care of their lawns, not use it as an extension of the street.

$150K-$300K, thats incredibly cheap for a house if you ask me.

And that is pretty trashy to park on your lawn.

For $150K around me, you wouldn't have a yard to park in and you'd be lucky to have a car.

for 150K round here you could have like 100 acres to park your cars on if you wanted

Maybe Im just a spoiled brat, but to me, it represents trashiness. I want to live in a neighborhood where people take care of their lawns and park in appropriate places. I dont want hillbilly neighbors who park on their grass with get-r-done stickers on their car.

I don't get the whole trashiness thing either, unless you are a snobby elite-ist or something.

[snobby]My word, you park your car on grass?? How terribly trashy.[/snobby]

I guess it's a stereotype, but stereotypes are most often true. When you see a black guy with gold teeth, what do you assume? He's some ghetto trash, and I would think that assumption is accurate. When you see a 12inch lifted pickup truck with a confederate flag in the rear window, and the driver is wearing a hunting camoflauge hat, you assume he's white county trash. It's all stereotypes, but in 99.9% of the cases, they're true. This goes for parking on your lawn. It was meant to be well kept or at least kept, and it's not there for you to park you cars on it. I look at this as being trashy.

Your not another one that's trying to boost your post count, are you?

You live in an apartment, in a diff country or something? Here in the US, the trailer park theme is to park in your front yard to show off the 4 mismatched tires on your Honda Civic and the 12" sub in the trunk. In an established neighborhood, it's not fung-shui Pilgrim **LOL** Ever heard the term redneck, hillbilly or punk? This applies to the thread slightly.

It comes down to ...... If you have the room to park in your driveway DO SO!

Must be a regional perception.

Heh, new condos are going for $1,000,000 here in Columbia, MD.

That is surprising. Especially since maryland is the shithole of the country. I mean hell if balimore is the toilet of the country, what is columbia, the toilet water?

I understand your plight, some of these people were brought up as dirtballs and thus act like dirtballs when they get older.

The neighborhood I moved into has nice people but they come from the low end of the scale and do things like this. Although I havent seen them park on their lawns yet.

We did have this specimen living down the street from us who would screech his truck tires at 2:30, drive down the middle of the road on his motorcyle drunk at midnight, and not keep his house clean. The best I saw of this genius was on a rainy day he was burning wood, smoking a cigarette while drinking a beer. Smoke and steam were going all over the place.

He has departed, i think he failed to make the payments on the house and got the old foreclosure on it. New people have moved in and are repairing the place.

My neighbors who are nice and all have 3 kids, each kid has a car, and of course one of them always has to park in from of my house. Of course one of their kids has a kid of their own at the ripe old age of 15.

MD really is a crappy state, there's no denial there. But you have cities like Bethesda, Columbia, Ellicott City, and a few more that are nothing like most of Maryland. You've obviously never been to Columbia. Some people on this forum hate the city because they have a problem with the chain stores everywhere. I personally like it because I've lived here my whole life and this is exactly the kind of city I want to rasie my children in when I have some.

BTW, Columbia was rated #4 in best places to live in America. I posted about it a few months ago.

When people come to look at the house and see cars parked on the lawn or trashy looking houses they dont want to move there. Thus is lowers the value of the community.

This is the way it works and has worked for ages. It shows a lack of care about your own property, people who dont care about their own property wont care about yours either.

People dont want to move into a neighborhood with people like that plain and simple.
