I think they are realy good exept when there is a little car hair stuck just where the sensor-eye is, it's anoying as hell when the poointer vibrate on the screen

all you guys say the cleaning bothers you, but i was always bothered with the cord resisting my movements when i play games, so I opted for the logitech cordless wheel mouse. i'd go for the cordless & optical logitech, but it's too damn big.

lately, my ms explorer (which i love) was vibrating a bit in windows. i just thought it was going bad (i got it RIGHT after it came out). i read your comment Generalen, then looked under my mouse, and there were 2 little hairs stuck near the LED! thanks a lot for posting that! i would never have thought of looking there.

I have the black MS trackball optical and I love mine. I use it in all the games with no problem at all. It's fast, no jerks.

Optical Mouse over Trackball anyday!! Really, I prefere using my mousepad with my Optical, rather than just on any surface. Mainly for the purpose I don't want my mouse feet to have a lot of wear'n'tear on them. You really don't know see the difference until you go back to trackball.. Optical feels a LOT better.

Straight up, MS Intellimouse, ball and all. The biggest thing to me is the weight - can't get the same feel with an optical mouse. Almost as much, the optical mice I've tried just haven't been responsive enough, and when you wrist-flick it while gaming, the optical freaks out. I'm a mouse baller and probably always will be - it's a feel thing, and totally intangible. Hell, whatever people like!

Here is what I own and use on a regular basis:

Razer Boomslang 2000 (yes, a ball mice)
Logitech MouseMan Wheel Optical (the big one, with the blue LED)
Logitech Wheel Optical (smaller corded one)
Logitech MouseMan Cordless Optical

I personally never experienced any problems with the Logtech MouseMan Wheel Optical or the Logitech Wheel Optical. However, the Logitech Wheel Optical seems a bit slow to response compared to the MouseMan Optical. 😉 The Cordless Optical is fine, but took a while to set it up and have the drivers work properly. Also, it works perfectly fine, but sometimes that "sleep" mode gets annoying. Opticals are great, and saves from cleaning the ball.

However, even with all these optical mice, I still prefer my Boomslang 2000 since I like the shape of it, and it's responsiveness. I use it on my main computer for graphics, web design, office applications, and gaming. Works perfect in all. I had to clean it once in the year that I owned it.

I suppose it's all a personal preference and what you are used to. By the way, trackballs are awesome as well, but I'm still trying to get used to it before I go buy one. (Microsoft Optical trackball at work. 😉 )

Personally I love my Logitech Wheel Mouse Optical. Would never go back to a ball mouse.

As for trackballs, I've tried quite a few of them. The Kensington TurboRing I liked best, as it actually felt USEABLE, but IMHO the only thing I can find better about a trackball compared to a mouse is you don't need as much desk-space. Useability wise the mouse opens up a can on it.

I was going to buy the cordless logitech optical but decided to go for the next best thing as If always wanted one but never been able to afford one, feels so natural and light, no cord, no batteries. I use it for everyday Windows use and it's great, so light, and no clicky noises either. Pick a mouse up after using one and it just feels slow and cumbersome. Great for Graphics, Audio editing, anything that has alot of mouse work really. Incase you can't tell I love it.

i was going to get one but decided this will do me, wwell a track ball one. But i'll get it soon since you guys are braggin how good it is.. 🙂

I regularly use MS Intellimouse Optical on my Primary system and Logitech First Mouse + on all others and have no strong preference towards either type for everyday use.

For gaming the MS has really nice drivers and the extra two buttons actually WORK in games unlike some of the other knock-off (Kensington, Inland...) optical mice.

Also, I've noticed that if you flick your mouse and the pointer freaks out, turning down your "pointer speed" in "mouse properties" a notch or two gets rid of this problem. This applies to male mice as well 😉
