What do you guys think about skydiving as a first date?

The question is, will the girl go for it? It would be an expensive first date just to find out she's scared of heights...

thats an expensive 1st date...but on the other hand if you end up not liking them you can have an alternate landing site set up with a getaway car

Or you could land in a place with a picnic set up and a car to drive back later 😉 I had thought thats what mrd was talking about at first.

I don't know. It's an expensive proposition, plus I'm not 100% sure you'll really get to know the person like a regular dinner would allow you to (or at least get told lies from the person about the person 😛 ).

It's an interesting date idea - but as a first date? I don't know.

Expensive, but she (he?) will never forget it. Also, she or he will associate that excitement and exhilaration with being around you.

I like it.

I remember seeing some article that argued that dates with an element of risk or danger may be more successful and forming bonds. Supposedly women are more likely to feel attracted to you or something. Of course your idea is a little extreme even for that theory I think.

it's expensive if first time, ~$200 a person, because someone needs to babysit you.

if you've done it before it's ~$30 a person.

Nay. I won't jump through hoops (or out of planes for that matter) to get someone to date me. If dinner and a movie isn't good enough for her, she's too good for me.

I'd flip out. Fear of heights/flying and all that jazz but if she's into that kinda of thing then why not? Then again you probably won't know if she's into that kind of thing until after the first date. 😛

If you are paying, you better be sure to get some tang.

But having her strapped to another man for a couple hours and paying for it sounds like a stupid way to "kick off" a relationship.

If you're coming from a "we were friends before this" environment, that's the way to go. Kayla and I never did any of that dinner and a movie crap. Paintball, hiking, hunting, but no cheezy cliche crap (we do see movies, but we go with friends, and we do have dinner, but, uh, we live together?) - we didn't need to. The purpose of the early, tentative "you wanna go see a movie and talk over dinner?" dates are to find out about each other. Feel out each other's likes and dislikes, personalities, and potential compatability.

If you're retarded enough to be dating a friend, skydiving is a GREAT first date. But if you don't know this girl very well, you're taking some risks. Basically, you have the drive to the airport to get to know each other. If you think you can do it, great. Also, skydiving is expensive. You might look like you're trying to impress her with your cash, when in reality, you're trying to impress her with your "I'm not normal"

if you think she will like it and you can afford it, go for it, and here's why: people are extremely poor at judging their own emotions. make them excited or nervous and they can very easily misinterpret that as love/lust. that's just one reason girls like bad boys. those guys make them nervous, and they misinterpret that as love. so if you want to be just a bit manipulative, sky-diving might have that hidden bonus. you better be able to back it up by actually being interesting, though, since you can't sky-dive on every date. 🙂

That about sums it up...
Great first date if you already know each other.
Poor first date if you barely know her.
