Well. if you delete crap from the registry, and you compy doesn't like it, you can just restore your registry. i got bored one day and deleted like a bunch through crapcleaner and i never noticed anything different. it's pretty safe as long as you know how to get your registry restored after winxp or what have you dies.

Safest registry program out there. I use it to clean the registry, but I use a free registry digger to find the bad crap.

Anyone else like anything about it or have any opinions? Any programs that arent free that are good (registry cleaners)?

CCleaner is an excellent program. I typically run it first before starting the malware removal process on customers computers. I've tried a couple of other crap cleaners, and none of them hold a candle to CCleaner.

As far as the registry goes, I don't recommend using any "cleaners". Either you know how to edit it manually or you leave it alone. Defragging the registry is also "snake oil" IMHO.

Great program. Run registry stuff, no problems at all. Registry First Aid is kind of free. If you have the patience to do it 9 problems at a time. Although, once it's all done, it doesn't tend to have as many errors, so you could carry on doing 9 at a time. Or get a key for .... your house, from the internet.

I have been using it on a few different computers and have found that it has sped up the booting of at least 1 of those computers.

I think its listed in the Consolidated Security Thread. Therefore legit and probably "essential"

I use it with several other similar programs. Each one finds stuff that others miss.

I have used ccleaner for over 6 months. Every time I run it, I delete everything it detects whether it is in the registry or not. Not a single problem ever. By far the best program I have ever seen for what it does.

I was using Window Washer and was happy with it, but this is free and does the job just as well with even more features.
