If I am craving something salty, sweet, or fatty.....I just don't have good solutions to help satisfy the craving without breaking with proper diet.

So those here that have been through cutting cycles and have followed fairly strict dietary regiment......what do you do to satisfy cravings?

its weird this year while cutting up i don't really seem to be havign any cravings. usually i crave a ton of sweet stuff.

when i do get the craving though which is pretty rare, I will eat some cereal usually, either raisin brand or special k, and that usually satisfies my sweet tooth.

I eat it. One meal that doesn't follow my diet perfectly every once in a while isn't going to matter when it comes to the big picture.

I follow the cheat meal rule......

Can I have a cheat meal? The answer depends on the the answer to this question >>> Can I see my abs?

I've recently been in this pickle.

I usually have like a crystal light, or one of those drink mixes that doesn't have any sugar or calories. That or an orange, but it depends how close to mealtime I am.

My typical snacks:

* Protein shake. I drink Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle, which tastes exactly like chocolate milk (when mixed with milk) and is a filling snack that takes care of most of my cravings. And it's pretty damn healhty: 23g of protein in the powder + 8-12g in the milk, negligible amounts of fat, carbs, or calories (I use skim milk).
* Yogurt with granola and/or fruit
* Baby carrots with hummus
* String cheese

Fatty and salty don't worry so much about
Those aren't going to make you fat
the sweet things will.

Some salted nuts are always a winner. Drink lots of water with though to help out.
The craving for sweet stuff will pass if you stick to avoiding it and the starches; you're craving because your body is not used to having low blood sugar with the current high insulin level.
As insulin level falls and insulin sensitivity increases (these will happen if you continue to avoid the starches) the craving will subside. When I was first cutting out the starches and sugars, I would get a very strong craving in the afternoon for sweet stuff (Mountain Dew). Went away.

Salty - I usually stick to salted Sunflower Seeds

Sweet - I make black bean brownies that taste incredibly good. I freeze the brownies individually and nuke them to thaw them.

Black Bean Brownies (I substitute Stevia for Agave Nectar and add a 1/4 cup of apple sauce to make up for the lack of liquid the nectar would give it)
They come in at 90 calories apiece. You could cut that in half if you left out the nuts.

Stevia is a great natural zero calorie sweetener.

I've been cheating 2-3x a week. Since I'm still losing weight, I'm not worried about it. Once I'm at a lower % bodyfat where the weight is harder to lose I may have to bear down and develop willpower.

how are rice cakes as a snack.....45 calories a pop. I bought a package yesterday. I had 2 for 90 calories seemed reasonable and they were tasty and satisfied my desire something like chips or the like.

I go with cereal, fruit, or caffienated diet sodas if I'm craving something sweet.

If I need something salty or I'm just feeling crappy because of low blood sugar I'll have some whole wheat toast or a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread. Peanut butter works especially well (for me at least) because it's really filling, so I don't end up just snacking again an hour later.

This ^^

I'll also add on extra cardio the next day if I'm feeling particularly guilty.

I have a glass of water first and wait 5 min. Then, if I still have the craving, I'll eat it. Though less of it than if I hadn't had the water. (but sometimes not!)

this works great I do this too! Also do this halfway through the meal if it's turning out to be less meal than I wanted (like when eating out).

rice cakes go well with some cheese on top
