What do you eat for breakfast?

I find that the quality of my food intake for the entire day is heavily influenced by my breakfast. If I don't eat breakfast I usually end up eating total garbage for the rest of the day. Lately I've been skipping b-fast far too often, and consequently my diet has regressed into full-blow suckage.

What do you guys eat for breakfast? I'm interested in easy-to-make healthy stuff that's preferably protein-heavy.

A) A bowl of cereal and 0% milk. Usually Special K with strawberries or Fruit/Yogurt. More recently, I switched to Honey Nut Cheerios. The box is larger and costs less.

B) Instant Oatmeal, Apple&Cinnamon or Maple Brown Sugar.

2 scoops protein powder
1 tsp creatine
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup frozen blueberries
16 oz whole milk
Mix in blender

I'll substitute water for milk if I'm trying to lose weight.

I'm usually not very hungry when I wake up and it's much easier and quicker to get the calories down by drinking them instead of eating something solid.

I eat a healthy cereal and peanut butter toast.

Here it goes:
1 cup grape nuts
however much chocolate Silk I feel like pouring
1 slice of 100% whole wheat toast with a healthy dose of natural peanut butter
1 large mug of coffee with whichever coffee creamer I picked up

I eat a second breakfast at breaktime and that consists of a piece of fruit and half a cup of cottage cheese and another mug of coffee.

Good God. If I ate that much sugar in the morning, I'd be asleep by 11am.

My usual breakfast:
3 Eggs
2 pieces bacon
0.5 cup oatmeal
1 Tbsp honey
1 Banana
16oz 2% Milk

3 egg omelet is quick, I have my system down.

I usually add maybe 5 oz of greek style yogurt. I cut that out lately.

I also chew a bunch of parsley while my eggs are cooking, and then after the meal chew more parsley on my way to work. I floss out bits later. It is a great natural way to clean the palette and breath, plus parsley is good for you, lots of vitamin A.

I used to do oats, sometimes with good grade B maple syrup. But from experience, eggs are way better, much more energy and feeling of satisfaction from eating protein. I would also recommend shakes for the same reason.

If I eat carbs at breakfast, it would be oats, alongside my eggs.

Gainer shake, 52g of complex carbs (very little sugar), 46g of protein, sometimes with milk instead of water. I have another one 2-3 hours afterwards then eat whole foods the rest of the day. I'm considering going with straight protein + milk after my next tub is out.

Heh, no kidding.

Let's compare:

My typical breakfast: cottage cheese + (natural) peanut butter + orange + grapes + glass of milk. All natural ingredients and minimal processing. Lots of (natural) vitamins and minerals. 570 calories, 57g carbs, 19g fat, 46g protein (almost exactly 40/30/30 breakdown).

Bateluer's breakfast: "a bowl of cereal and 0% milk." Both cereals he listed are made out of highly processed and refined ingredients, with lots of additives (sugar, HFCS, salt, preservatives, etc). Most vitamins/minerals are added through fortification. Exact nutritional breakdown obviously depends on the size of the bowl, but assuming 2.5 servings honey nut cheerios and 1.5 servings of milk, that comes out to 395 calories, 73g carbs, 4g fat, 20g protein (72/9/19 breakdown).

Here's the stuff I drink. MHP up your mass. Like I said, it's usually my first and second meal of the day and all solids after that.

Mine tastes better, and it really doesn't have that much sugar in it. The instant oatmeal does, but I don't eat that very often, 1 box will last more than a month. Cottage cheese and peanut butter makes me ill just thinking of it, my rats wouldn't eat it and they live on lab blocks mostly.

Unfortunately, the time required to create a 'good' healthy breakfast doesn't exist and I'm up early enough as it is, to so nothing of the strain on the wallet. The Cheerios box is more than double the size of the Special K box and costs the same.

Edit - Humans weren't meant to 'eat' liquid food.

I have to laugh at the "designer" breakfasts all the body-building/extreme fitness dudes have the time for. Must be nice to able to dawdle in the morning.

Me:

4am wake
take a shower/shave/shit/get dressed/eat/feed and water dogs
5am leave for work
6am morning meeting

I guess I'm jealous. :)

non-training days breakfast:
wake up:
1 scoop whey

30 min after:
4 eggs w/salsa
1 cup oats
1/2 banana
1 TBsp natural peanut butter

only difference from training and non-training is I eat 6 eggs on training days.

Historically my shakes have been pretty boring. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thx.

brikis, this isn't the Matrix. Some of us care about taste - your breakfast & explanation sounds like the mush they eat on their ship ;)

Anyway, I don't like breakfast. I either don't eat it, or I'll have some sort of cereal with 1% milk. Sometimes you just gotta have your Count Chocula.

That's the thing...time. When I was working part time or in school I ate extremely healthy because I had all this available time to make my food. Yesterday I put in a 12 hour day. Without pre-making and freezing stuff, it's hard to find time in a day like that to do much more than throw a bunch of crap in a blender and press "mix".

That said, we all have priorities. I'm pissed @ how bad my diet has become and I'm making a change no matter what.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, milk, and almonds for me.

Relatively healthy in macronutrient distribution and doesn't take too long.
