What do you drive and what was your selling point for it?

2002 VW Golf GLS TDI.

Mileage was the big thing as I drive 110km each way back and forth to work every day. In my price range it also had the most comfortable interior and all of the goodies I wanted.

I drive a 1993 Toyota Camry 4 banger. Gold with everything else stock. Got tint and cd changer and other minor things like that. I wanted to get a 93-96 Toyota Celica, 96-98 Nissan Altima, but then we ended up deciding that my mom getting a new car and me getting her old car would provide us both with more reliable cars.

Yep, so thats why I drive a 93 camry. Its not that bad. Its roomy, gas efficient, and right when they changed the body design, so then it still looks relatively new.

I drive a 1989 Mustang GT...got it for $3000 2 years ago with 78k miles and 1 owner. It was funny because when i was looking in the paper all the same exact cars were going for $4000 and up and with over 100k miles, ridiculous.. I actually got it for what it was worth! Still driving it, runs strong. I was just looking for a decent v8 that is cheap to make fast, and here it is. Time to run it at the track!

When I get a job (soon) that will be my big decision. Take my parents 95 Grand AM GT and make like 3 monthly payments or get a difference car and pay for 4-5 years and get something I truely want.

1994 Mitsubishi Galant. Bought it in 1997 as my first car outta high school. I paid $4300. Features are power everything, cruise, auto w/overdrive, peppy acceleration, plenty of cargo space, roomy interior as well. Good gas milage...about 28mpg hwy. Very good engine life and did I mention it was only $4300? Mitsubishi Galants have a low resale value and are a lot of car for the buck if you plan to drive the doors off it instead of trading it in next Fall.

How much are the Grand Am payments, you mean only 3 payments, not 3 years, right?

I'd go for the Grand Am and save up for a huge ass downpayment on something you really want.

1988 Honda Accord LXi. It was free, parents were tired of it after 10 years, so they gave it to me when I got my license in 1998. I like the novelty of having a sedan with retractible headlamps, plus I like the car because it's unique, it may be the last non-riced, non-POS 3rd generation Accord remaining in existance. The PGMFI engine is very nice too, for 1988 they re-designed the exaust and the FI engine went from 110 to 120 hp. The carbbed engine (DX and LX) had 98 hp.

EDIT: This car will be retired as my daily just as soon as I get the odometer to turn over to 000000.0 again. Only 791,000 miles to go until that million-mile goal. At my current rate, I only have to drive the car for another 53 years. Looks like I'll have to up the amount of driving. More trips to NH I guess.

That's exactly what I am thinking. I can just put in a new stereo, tint the windows and get the keyless entry fixed (front passenger door doesn't unlock with the keyless remote) and it will be just fine.

Its a 4 door GT coupe with 90-95k miles. Still looks and runs great as far as i can tell.

I would assume it will last quite a while longer. They have had almost zero problems and just put new tires on it with in 15k miles.

I think I just might do that.

joyride Get the '95. I think very few people regret a car purchase in that they spent too LITTLE on a car. Very infrequent. Also since you're not established in life yet with house/family, etc. (guessing), in two years you'll probably have way more money and get the car you really want. I almost bought a bottom of the line econobox half a year ago because of money issues at the time but instead ended up getting a $2500 car. It wasn't my choice at the time but now I'm glad I did - that econobox would have been mine for 5 years, whereas given my situation now if I decide i need a new car in a year I could get something way better like an altima instead of settling for something then.
