You dodged a bullet there. I'd be very glad for that additional chance, and make real sure I got to work on time in the future.

I have had to fire people in the past who were good workers, but just weren't reliable enough to get to work on time. I don't like doing it, but if you let it go then everyone wants to do the same thing.

Yeah I know. Honestly, I HATE being late. I'm usually early for everything, and I have a set wake-up schedule for work and I always get there 5 minutes early. But sometimes accidents happen. I got lucky this time

The long and short of it is if you miss work regardless of why, it's not really a problem.

However if you miss work all the time for petty things and then a real serious one comes up....nothing you can do will save you.

It's amazing what an attendance dump (from companies that use a computerized clock in/out system) will show.

1) the people that play the 7 min rounding game (Leave for lunch at 11:53 each day and get back at 12:37 or 1:07 everyday)

2) the people that take the first or last or every other Monday/Friday off

3) the people that always swipe in at the same time and swipe out at the same time (someone holds the cards and is the 'early bird' to arrive and 'late bird' to leave plus the 30min lunch taker when the other 2+ people are gone 1-2hours).

4) the people that take days off after popular 'drinking' type functions in the area.

etc.

the first three examples are trademark instances.
