Now that you are an adult how to you celebrate your birthday?

  • I still have a party and get presents.

  • I just go out for dinner and get a few presents (or just dinner)

  • I get totally smashed. With or without presents.

  • I don't celebrate my birthday.

Had a few friends over for my 18th. Parents gave me money, and friends got me music albums from wishlists I'd made—nothing wild.

For my 19th, I'd just like to do nothing with nobody. Stressed out from college and domestic problems, so I'd just like a day where I don't do anything at all and have peace of mind.

I just can't get too excited for birthdays anymore. It's my 36th birthday on Thursday, and we'll probably do the usual: head down to the local VFW for karaoke and beer.

I don't celebrate them. I just turned 40 last November and I forbid my wife from throwing me a party and just wanted to be left alone.

eh, this year my friend made me a cake out of a milk stout beer (hell yeah) and we had a special dinner (we all have dinner on sundays) that included extra wine, extra beer, 5 kinds of sausage, a bone in pork loin, grilled bacon wrapped scallops, i dont remember what else

it was pretty sweet

I get a dinner, and maybe a last minute gift. I spend 3 weeks looking for the perfect gift for my wife. She gets me something she saw on sale at Target. I envy people with wives that are good gift givers.

Me too. I was so incredibly disappointed at Christmas that I could barely contain my disappointment.

Does she try though? Not very thoughtful of her to just get anything when you do all that work. But if she really means well and tries, but just sucks at it then that's different.

There is almost always a football game or two on TV on my birthday, so I will watch those during the day (especially now that my son is into football).

We then usually either go out to dinner or have dinner at a family member's house with just family.

I sometimes get a few gifts from the family. I usually get a check from the 'rents and in-laws.

That really sucks 🙁 What did you get?

She got me a couple of things I asked for, but not the thing I really wanted (an SSD) and instead, bought me clothes she thought I needed.

Of course, she gets EVERYTHING she asks for every year and I listen carefully to other things she mentions throughout the year and generally include a couple of those as well.

For my 40th b-day? I got a $100 Amazon card. That wasn't bad because I did ask for an Amazon card. Her 30th a couple of weeks ago? A new leather cover for her Kindle with light, a Pandora bracelet, and a few charms to get her started.

EDIT: In fairness, she got me awesome stuff last Christmas, including a PS3. 😀

Check for $5 lol.

32 isn't an old man. But yeah I suppose it's getting old for Charlie Sheen partying. Which is kind of strange feeling as I'm 29 now and have never done any of that. Of course Sheen is 45.

When I was in the Navy I went buck wild in the Mediterranean. By the time I got back I was done acting like a maniac.
You can do it whenever you like but its much easier at 19, trust me.

No, for her it's a last minute "Oh, I supposed I should get something really quick" thing. At Christmas, she got all of my gifts at Barnes and Noble because she happened to be in there. WTF woman???? I have a few WELL DEFINED hobbies- noted by the loud guitar music coming from the basement, the astronomy charts all over my walls, and my infatuation with exotic cars fueled by 50 episodes of Top Gear on our DVR. She got me a couple of books on the best seller list. One was the Keith Richards book, which technically is guitar related, but I'm not a Rolling Stones fan.

She's just a lazy gift giver. I'm going to put a stop to gift exchanging all together as she's getting worse as she gets older.
