What do you do for your birthday now that you are "older"?

Now that you are an adult how to you celebrate your birthday?

  • I still have a party and get presents.

  • I just go out for dinner and get a few presents (or just dinner)

  • I get totally smashed. With or without presents.

  • I don't celebrate my birthday.

Of course we have a wide range of ages represented here on ATOT so by older I simply mean, now that you are an adult. Do you still celebrate your birthday? Do you still get presents from family and friends? Do you go out and get wasted? Or maybe it's just another regular day for you?

For myself I usually go out for a nice dinner with the family. I often get something in the way of a gift from my parents, sometimes it's just cash (last year I told them if they want to get me anything just give me cash). I do get more than a bit tipsy but not usually smashed. Though I might have a little more today/tomorrow since this is also my Friday 😛

My birthday today.

Happy birthday man!

My 26th birthday was a couple of weeks ago. I drove to Tauranga to see my brother/sister/mum/dad. Had some home made Indian food and a few beers, played some video games. I usually get drunk with my friends but felt like doing something a little more relaxed this year.

Edit - we still do presents, but keep it simple. Mum got me a 2tb HDD, sis got my some sweet pyjamas :awe: My brother and I generally don't exchange gifts because we're twins, don't wanna give someone a present on my birthday 😛

I go out for dinner, get a few presents, but now my birthdays last longer than 24 hours. I start celebrating them early and I continue far beyond. In fact this last year the holiday season started for me after it was officially over! But it lasted for months... 🙂

usually celebrate it a few times.

once with my immediate family (mom, step dad, mother in law, etc) which is usually at someone's house or we go eat dinner.

then usually my wife will take me out to dinner.

then i do the celebration with my friends which typically involves getting smashed.

Sleep I go get my self a bottle of nyquil and a couple benadryl and put myself in a self induced coma and no one is allowed to bug me for 24 hours.

It becomes a weekend away. Went to Vegas the year before last, Cape May last year - not sure what I'm doing this June.

As little as possible. My wife insists of a birthday card for me, my favorite dinner, and a cake...and usually some kind of present.🙄

I'd prefer to just ignore it...

At my age, I get to take the kids out for my birthday dinner (and pay for them). Sometimes they offer to help with the bill.

My celebration is a glass or two of the decent whiskey while I ponder in amazement that I've lasted another year.

I take the day off from work and sit in a dark room with no lights and try remember being young 🙁

J/K I party like Charlie Sheen on Pepto Bismol 🙂 then take a nap

I've never been a big birthday guy...but depending on where I've been, my friends will usually take me out to dinner or for drinks. This year, since I'm back in MI, I'm having my mother make me my favorite noodle dish and then I have some stuff planned on Saturday (just for me...nothing big).

On the complete opposite side of the spectrum, my best friend in NYC always has a huge to-do for her birthday. I usually fly out there for it...this year she wants to charter a boat for a sunset cruise and then I might take her out to Maine. 😛

IIRC, on my last birthday, I worked on my car all day, then mowed the lawn.
Actually, I forgot it was my birthday.
(You stop counting after 50!)

I like to spend most of my birthdays either in the hospital, at another Doctors or at the Dentist. I dont plan it, it just seems to work out that way most years.

Just another day.

I just turned 30 this past February. Went to Atlantic City for a weekend and got smashed with friends, had a lot of fun.

The birthday card is kind of lolworthy. From a friend or from family is fine, rather corny from your wife, no? 😀
