I am the director of www.dailybruin.ucla.edu, but mainly Im a full time student.

(My work takes about 4+ hours two or three times a week)

Before this Ive worked a couple minor odd jobs. The thing I like most about my current job is that I get to hire people and sit back and watch them work :) THAT is a great feeling.

I forgot you were a banker. That's funny with all the posts casting aspersions on your bank account.

I work for Motorola in the fab, Photo to be specific (yuk!). I prefer my older area in Implant, a lot more fun. I'm just an operator in the metrology loop. Making sure the wafer got the right pattern etc.

Since retiring from the USMC a year and a couple of days ago I've gotten into the 18-wheeler over-the-road deal. It's gotta' be just about the nastiest industry in the U.S. Dishonesty and deceit on the entry level. Anything to get you in the door. What's especially disappointing is the fact that I'm supposed to be smart yet I've let these guys continue to make a fool of me. Finally did my research and I start for a different company in SLC Utah Sunday. Probably be back at my house in about 10 weeks. It's not hard; just a completely different lifestyle.

It takes quite a while to get to the point where you can make the serious money most people think you make. You just about have to be a trainer (paid for your miles and your trainee's). I had a trainer who had been driving for thirty years and we ran a dedicated route (broccoli from Dallas to Kenmare St. in Manhattan). He worked 11 months out of the year and collected 90k. That's pretty good for we uneducated folks.

I say the only possible salvation for this industry is the enactment of laws allowing 18-19-20 year olds to haul Hazardous Materials / Hazardous Waste in interstate commerce. I've never been asked for my opinion, though.

Never a short answer from this guy.

LOL! :p You summed it up pretty nicely BD. :D

I do not junk e-mail, not my business. I send out advertising for companies that approach us to do marketing for them, so they can advertise and make more money which means more jobs for everyone else when they increase their business. We do not solicit them, they come to us.
You should blame your bank, mortgage company, credit card company and anyone whom you ever filled out an application for anything to. They are the ones who whore out your name and information to list brokers who in turn sell the lists that our customers buy and present to us for mailing. The only thing I do is use the database and address the envelope or what ever their mail piece may happen to look like. If it wasn't for junk mail your first class would be 3 times as expensive as it is now, just like banners which Anand uses to pay for his web site. It's called advertising and there is not one business that does not do it whether it be commercials on TV, magazines or mailings. It's part of doing business in America. Get used to it.
I take exception to your animal rapist comment assmunch which I consider uncalled for. Cashman asked what every one does for a living so I posted what I do now.
And moderator I take exception to your comment too. :|
