a Pragmatic Free Reformist Radical!

hehe, couldn't resist. 😉

Socially Liberal, Fiscally Conservative. Quite common in these parts.

Socially Liberal (again, not social pork or easy welfare, just freedom, etc), Fiscally Conservative (something that DC and most states lack).

Me too!...what are you doing voting Liberal! 😉

I'll be honest and say I am a moderate. I vote democrat and republican. I like our current democrat govenor, but have voted for republican senators. Mostly the vote for the senators is because in Virginia there are a lot of naval bases and shipbuilding interests. I would hate to see my fellow Virginians loose those jobs. In national elections I can't say I am totally happy with either party, though I tend to see nationally democrats are better right now. I have been one to sign patitions to let independants on the ballot here in my voting district. I think the more options there are on voting day the better off we are. I do tend to think that people should have paid more attention to Ross Perot when he ran for office. Some of his ideas were pretty good. It is a shame he lost out. I forget whither I voted for him or not.

I am an imbecile and a know nothing without sufficient sense to know which way is up much less what the best politics is.

So I guess I'm a Genius and proponent of the third way, the real third way that is not that phony one I think I remember Clinton being involved in, you know, the one based on the Holy Affirming, the Holy Denying and the Holy Reconciling.

Really...
Third-way ? More supportive of foreign intervention than liberals and less supportive of economic regulation, coupled with more-or-less progressive social views. "Third-way" is to liberal what neoconservative is to conservative.

Moonbeam is a liberal who doesn't support economic regulation and foreign intervention?!

Oh quiet...conservatives don't seem appropriately represented in the poll either.

All of the ultra-conservatives were banned. Except for a few notables (we all know who) there are very few ultra-conservatives here anymore. As for ultra liberals, that's a different story. They've got a mod on their side.

By most definitions on here, an Ultra Liberal is someone against Bush. I'll take the label (even though I'm highly fiscally conservative or at least I think I am 😛) if that's all it takes! 😉

Not that third way but the real one, the one that resolves the paradox of opposites in higher understanding.

Engineers... can't live with them, can't live without them. 😉

I don't mind throwing some theory into the equation myself. I think any Reformer has to be able to take from both sides of the coin.

All I can say is that there are more people on this board I'd identify as conservative (ultra and otherwise) than seem to have voted on the poll. While the same might be said of "ultra liberals", I don't think this forum is as skewed as some people would like to believe. Engineer has a good point, the definition of ultra-liberal is rather strange for some people.

The forum isn't so much Liberal, as it is anti-Conservative.

I'm sorry you think so, but I think you're wrong in any case. I have observed many discussions where ideas were debated in a normal manner you would expect of any people with different opinions. I frequently post "conservative" viewpoints in economic threads, for example, and I have yet to observe an anti-conservative movement there. The only time I've noticed an anti-conservative viewpoint is when the conservative in question is behaving like a ranting lunatic, and I hardly think that's a fair basis for comparison. Especially since there is equal blowback from the righties (and the lefties in an increasing number of cases) against liberals behaving that way. This should come as no surprise to anyone, this is an internet forum, and what you get back is often closely related to what you put in.

It could certainly be a false perception caused by something else, for example:

I do notice a large number of economic conservatives as opposed to social conservatives.

Anyone with a socially conservative viewpoint is immediately labelled a redneck, bigot, hater, bible-thumper, fascist, and so on.

This guy (BoberFett based on previous posts) however is a total nazi with a heart for gay marriage somehow. :Q I suppose some people are all over the map.

Do you think it could be due to that fact that social conservatives are the biggest partisan hacks ever? Many social conservatives do let there personal religous feelings influnce there decisions, many of them are full of hate.

In my personal opinion many social conservaties are bigots and bible-thumpers.
