There are a lot of other classifications of restaurants... fine dining would probably be the opposite of fast food, but casual dining may be what you're looking for (casual dining restaurant = your "typical" sit-down restaurant, The Cracker Barrel is an example)

Either "restaurant", (because most restaurants serve "real food") , or a sit-down restaurant...

Who says that 'Fast Food' should be followed by 'restaurant'???

Anything remotely like McD's/BK's/Wendy's is a place where you fill your stomach up with sustenance (not necessarily food) as fast as you can with absolutely no worries about how good/bad it is for you. A 'restaurant' is a place where you take your time, (hopefully) get better food, have a REAL choice of foods that are good/bad for you, and come out feeling like you did something good for your body (most of the time).

Clear it up a bit? :D

QFMFT!

a restaurant, IMHO, is not a place where you go in, order your food, and get out in 10 minutes. it's where you sit down and enjoy your meal, taking your time eating it. it also has a more refined dining atmosphere.
