I used to go bowling all the time. There was a small place that only charged $1 a game. so we would go every weekend. Granted the lanes were not that great and there was no food or alchohol. but once it closed (guy died. he just ran it for fun) the other places in town ere $3-5 a game.

i would avarage 130 though. i suck heh

I bowl anywhere from 150's to 270's. I haven't gotten my 300 ring yet...but someday maybe.

Average is around 180. I don't get a lot of stuff over 250.

My kids love it. I don't get into all the fancy equipment some of these folks do, but my only real advice is to make sure you get your own ball and learn it.....

I just got a new ball for xmas. I had been using a 20 year old hammer before that. Man, this thing hooks SO much more. Still getting adjusted to it though.

What ball did you get?

I use a Big Bully, Backyard Bully and sometimes an old old Columbia 300 White Dot.

Columbia Messenger Ti Pearl.

What does "white dot" mean? Is that the name of the ball? My ball has a yellow dot on it, heh.

Mine is probably at least 10 years old..it used to be my dad's. I don't use it as much anymore but it's a good spare ball.

It's a pretty generic ball.

The dot is an indicator for "pin" which is the position of the top of the core in the ball. It assists the drillers in positioning the holes correctly for your bowling style.

Center of gravity is marked on the surface as well.

I've never even heard of 5 pin! That actually exists?

In Canada (at least where I am) its hard to find anything but 5 pin.
Also my scores don't count since you presume 10 pin.

Hah, bowling. I'm the most inconsistent bowler in the world. I bowl a couple of times a year, and lately it's been more like once a year. I usually bowl in the 80s, but once bowled a 231 or 232 (it was years ago). Last time I bowled (~10 months ago if that tells you anything about my frequency), my first game was in the 80s and my second was in the 190s. Talk about inconsistency. Sometimes I can put it the same place in every frame, sometimes I get 2-3 gutters in a row.

A few of my friends are like that too. Can get several strikes or gutter balls in a row. Neither surprises me. Are you a straight bowler? Do you throw a hook? Traditional grip? Fingertip grip? Thumb? No thumb?

Straight, traditional (I think), with thumb.

If you guys want to get higher scores (200's)...you can't throw a straight ball usually.

I throw a slight hook from right to the left, hooking into the pocket. I use fingertip grips and full thumb.
