taste is a matter of opinion, not fact.
wow that's just

BRILLIANT!

The sarcasm is strong in this one............

IMHO the darker a beer the better, so guiness rate pretty high as a non special beer.

yes, its just an acquired taste, I prefer black coffee over cream and sugar and all that, because there is just something about the bitterness I enjoy. I think this can apply to beerI enjoy Bass and guinness

Would you consider it fair to decide that you dislike cheese, after trying Velveta and Kraft Singles? (And maybe, for the sake of argument, something "fancy" like the red wax ball of gouda...) Well, in the case of beer I'd go so far as to say that Bud/Miller/Coors/Corona, and even such things as like Stella Artois/Heineken have LESS in common with most quality beers than those pseudo-cheeses have in common with quality cheese. (That's not to say the others don't have their place, they just aren't exactly the pinacle of gourmet accomplishment). There's a LOT of variety out there, if you're willing to try a few things before writing off the whole shebang. Should you care to look into it, a great resource can be found here. The most success I've had with people who haven't liked what beers they've tried has been with Hefeweizens, which you can read about here. If you can't find any of the examples they give, Hoegaarden is pretty available, and an adequate substitute. Regardless, beer just isn't for all people, so by all means, drink what you like...just don't denigrate those of us that do for having diffences of taste, I assure you, if we wanted to be "manly" we'd just walk around belting off a bottle of JD... ;)

(I know I'm making an assumpion here about the beers you've tried, for the sake of analogy, I apologize if it's wrong...)

It's not as good as some bitters and stouts and other darks...but it's SO much better than ANYTHING gold that it really doesn't matter much.

Not everyone has hangovers (i've never had one despite SERIOUS drinking), I've only thrown up twice (both times from severe alcohol poisoning), I've never passed out (though I've fallen asleep drunk (and woken up drunk)). Since I'm not STUPID enough to ever get into a car after drinking, I couldn't tell you on the last one.

I feel sorry for those that chose to drink alcohol.

Consuming alcohol is a sign of weakness.

Some alcohol is beneficial to your health :)

To hell with your rationalizations. :)

honest - i enjoy the taste of it. Honestly.

But I'm a beer snob, and am very particular/discriminating.

no acquiring of taste here.. beers i love i loved on the first drink.. beers i think are shtt i still think are shtt (corona, heineken, schaefer, pale ales [sierra nevada exempt])

ive always liked coffee for its taste and especially smell (caffeine doesnt do anything to me)...

and i still hate any and all cheeses... personal tastes... not everybody find beer revolting and have to drink it for its effect

Dude sucks to be you! I love cheese. I have had very many a night getting drunk and high, then eating grilled cheeses from the George foreman grill. The lean mean grilled cheese machine.

Tthe taste of beer doesn't do that. To much drinking and beeing stupid enough to drive afterwards does that.

Coffee, beer and wine is something I needed to acquire a taste for. AFAIK children tend to like sweet things while as you grow up you start to like things to be less sweet and more taste.

For cheese I only like those who taste close to nothing, all others revolt and try to flee the stomach acid the wrong way.

I'm with you .. I find the taste of beer to be repulsive. Maybe just some bad experiences in college, maybe because I have never had a good beer ... I dunno.

I don't drink, though. I don't see the point of being drunk and to drink for the taste .. well .. I prefer iced tea or soda on a summer day, coffee in the winter.

I'm one of the few or only people I know who enjoy beer soley for its taste and not the alcohol. I actually hate the alcohol effect and too much makes me sick before I get drunk. A good beer can be a enjoyable acquired taste much like other alcoholic beverages, coffee, hot spices, or smoking and all the other things which are "acquired tastes". Often acquired because they usually arent very good for you and you body naturally wants to reject it.

I enjoy a good beer for its flavor usually to accompany a meal. Hence I'm a bit of a beer snob. I like alot of different beers for different ocasions such as a freshly poured stout, IPAs, local crafted brews to all kinds of foreign beers. I often try a few different beers from all over the world. I'll drink 2-4 with a meal and afterwards, but rarely will I drink more. I don't mind a little buzz but any more then that I start to get sick well before I am drunk.

Now there are alot of crap junk beers but just because its expensive doesnt mean you'll like it. Beer is like any other edible substance, everyone has their own taste, but i do agree that you need to get above the "cheapo" mass produced commercial beers. Once you get past that to well crafted artisan beers, there is alot to try and choose. Variations of all different flavors from wheats, ambers, darks, stouts, ales, porters, blondes, and good local to some hard to find bottles from halfway around the world. So many different styles and tastes to choose from. If you can afford to try them it's alot of fun trying different quality beers. You just had to be willing to try. I just had some russian beer which was excellent. Never even seen a Russian beer before.
