Looks like 9/26/2008 is going to be a VERY historic day for the US, it's economy and it's citizens. All I can do is sit here and scratch my head in disbelief......what in the HELL is going on? I work my DAMN ass off and make $40k a year....while people who make millions who do absolutely NOTHING are bringing this countries overall economy and demeanor to a freakin HALT!

I could not be more pissed than I am right now....and now WaMu has gone under, FDIC takes them over and JPMorgan buys them out. This dipshits in congress are apparently still up on the hill pissing and moaning about how they don't want to lose their own money...but screw the rest of us.

I want to know what people in other countries think about the US right now. AT foriegners....post your feelings!

In terms of the US doing things right we have a pretty good postal service. Also last year there were 0 deaths involving children riding school buses which is pretty amazing. So yeah we can do some things right.

The French think we're a bunch of retards if we elect an half dead old guy and an airhead soccer mom to the white house in time of economic crisis. I heard this on NPR this week.

Nobody cares about the French. I rather hear from someone from a non-shitty country.

Well...we aren't any better with Obama and Biden who apparently need to have their own debates....

Just when I thought (several months ago) that this was shaping up to be the MOST IMPORTANT election ever......it has turned into a complete joke.

I am a McCain/Palin voter....and I will vote for them no matter what.

you claim tomorrow will be "a VERY historic day for the US, it's (sic) economy and it's citizens." when asked why it will be historic, you reply with "just wait and see"

sounds like you're either a jackass or a terrorist. which one is it?

He means he thinks the stock market is going to tank because they don't have a deal yet. Personally, I think it'll deal with itself until Monday, but who knows.

Well I'm from New Zealand. My thought on America could go on for pages so I'll keep this brief (I follow US politics fairly closely).

Your government: I think Americans should be ashamed of the man they put in office - TWICE. I'm dumbfounded that his approval ratings are still around the 30% mark. If you speak to 3 Americans, on average one of them will still think Bush is doing a good job. It's astounding.

Your politics are a massive joke. Most people I talk to around here (actually so far everyone) is flummoxed that about half of USA is considering voting in a 71-year old whose policies almost perfectly mirror those of Bush. Even worse, he chose a running mate based on a media stunt, not based on her ability to run the country (which, let's face it, isn't unlikely to happen).

However, having said that, American people are, in my experience, great. My sample size is small and America is enormously diverse so it's kind of a silly thing to say, but every American I have met has been pretty damn awesome.

Most people don't hate Americans, but thy hate your government and your 3-ring circus politics.

Edit - and yeah, Obama is more popular overseas for sure.

In all fairness, we were hated before Bush and although Obama is more popular in most places overseas, I doubt that will change.

I remember being told to wear a Canadian flag pin when visiting Europe like 10 years ago.

They aren't too happy with our political leadership and foreign policy, but we're still up there in other areas. Third-world countries still think our streets are paved with gold as evidenced by Mexico and from what I've heard of people studying in places like Egypt and Vietnam. Also, our higher-education system is still pretty much considered the world's best. A person with an American degree is very well regarded in many other countries.

This! Despite the evolution/ID BS in your middle/high schools, your higher education institutes are the envy of the world, no doubt.

So, just like Coolidge and Hoover, as well as the 1920s republican congress, McCain's folly is going to lead us into a depression. Great that you'll vote for him. Can you pass the kool aid?

Aussie here.

Bush destroyed your reputation.

Iraq, gitmo, patriot act, illigal wire tappings etc.

If your next president is a Republican you will never recover your reputation. The world with just think you're all too stupid to ever do anything right again.

8 years ago you would hard pressed to find someone who didn't think the US was a great country. Now, many people hate America. They don't hate American's, they just hate the things your goverment does.

EDIT: When Clinton came here last year he got something like $10,000 a table when he was going around giving speaches. When Bush is no longer in office he will not be able to come here.

They think you should post in P&N.

You gotta be fucking kidding me. You're either lying or...you know what, I think you're just lying.

Unfortunately, that matters very little to people. It seems a lot of people missed out on that whole globalization thing, and are stuck in the Cold War. They still believe in American Exceptionalism, where America is undoubtedly the one and only world super power. Therefore, we don't need to care what the world thinks.

... is that a joke? McCain is a pretty horrible presidential candidate on his own, but Palin is the single worst thing to happen to this election.

Fuck it, this kind of conversation belongs in P&N
