noob question, i have already Fdisked and formated. i can get to command prompt after booting off a disk, but it does not boot off of cd.

Boot to the Win98 floppy disk, Choose"Start computer with CD support", At the A:\ prompt change to your CD drive(Should be E:\), Type "setup"(no quotes), hit enter and your off..

wont boot off cd at all?
odd, check the boot order in the bios, set CD-ROM as first boot device
shoudl work then so you can follow Gonzos instructions

The command line to install Windows 98 is setup.

If you are installing Windows 98 Second Edition, it is setup /p j for correct ACPI support.

Only a limited number of OEM versions of Windows 98 Second Edition allowed booting from the CD.
