To me the word phablet is more defined by time period. When phones were getting larger and larger it made more sense because it was a newer trend, but today I see larger screen phones as the "normal" phone while the smaller phones are the mini ones.

It was always a stupid name. Phablet implies an oversized phone. It wholly depends on the size of the person. iPhone 4's and earlier were way too small for my hands. My Galaxy Nexus was the first phone I stood a chance with, at 4.7". When I bought a Note 3, I finally had a reasonably sized phone, which fit in my pockets just fine. It didn't look corny to hold it up to my head, because I also have a big head.

I always like Apple products, but I never liked their one-size fits Steve model.
