What did you do Ray? No online for PC Ghostbusters, wth?

I pre-ordered from gamestop so I could get the free t-shirt.

It did not install correctly from the DVD because I specified a different folder than the default installation folder. I searched on google and what happens is it copies most of the game to the folder you specify, but still copies the game executable to the default folder! You have to manually copy those files over then it works fine.

No AA is my only gripe, other than that it looks/runs pretty good. The script and voice overs are great.

Ahh.. I failed to realize that the PC version is being published by Atari. If the DRM used is the online activation / install limit BS, i'm changing my mind about picking it up. And no MP.. Sounds like another crappy console port, great.

I'm boycotting Atari, will only get this if it gets rave reviews and DRM is not a bitch to deal with.

/slim chance

You can bypass most of the DRM problems if you get the Steam version. I've had some major problems trying to install boxed copies of games like Oblivion, but I've never had a problem with Steam trying to install a game.

Bypassing DRM by using another form of DRM doesn't seem like a good idea (assuming you dislike DRM); however, I understand what you intended to say.

What is the word on the DRM? Will Securom or Tages be used? Does the game have install limits?

Many Steam games retain Securom, so I would appreciate confirmation.

Downloading from Steam now.. I probably wouldn't have bothered w/ the multiplayer modes on this one anyway, so the $30 pricetag made the PC version very attractive vs. the Xbox.

Man, they don't even support LAN... and the 360 only supports online MP with no co-op on one machine.

I'll wait for the MP patch, haven't even checked the DRM yet so that might also be a problem (not buying through steam).

I've been playing it pretty much all day now. To put it simple, I'm impressed.

I'm playing it with a controller that I picked up a while back at bb for $24. The controller is identical to a ps2 controller. It fits perfectly with this game. The only change I made to the controls was invert the 'look' axis. All other buttons where right in place.

I didn't even try using mouse/keyboard. Normally I prefer games with mouse/keyboard... but this game gave me an itch to plug my controller in.

The gameplay is pretty intense. And it's not all just shooting the laser. You have to switch to your 'hold' beam and throw your trap out on the floor and wrestle with the ghosts to get them to the trap. There are also 4 different weapons which you purchase and each weapon has a secondary fire mode. You have all weapons equipped simultaniously. You have to scan the ghosts to find their vulnerabilities so that you know which weapon to use, and each weapon is totally unique.

The graphics are pretty nice. But the sound is the true highlight. All of the music and effects are perfect.

I'm playing using:
Core 2 Duo @ 3.0ghz. (not quad)
Geforce 8600gt
2gigs of ram

The framerate is slightly low, but it stays smooth so I rarely notice anything. If I was to take a guess I would say my framerate stays between 24-45. But it NEVER drops to a crawl so I'm satisfied.

The game has been a blast so far. I do wish that it had some type of quick-mission mode so I could just go into some randomly generated area and bust stuff up. (multiplayer like this would be pretty fun probably)

I forgot to mention, the physics are nice.. I would say that it's similar to half life 2.. you can grab onto stuff with your tractor beam gun thing and move things around similar to the gravity gun in hl2.

And the story, in my opinion, is movie-quality. I kind of get the feeling that this was actually intended to be a movie but they had to settle on a game instead.

EDIT: Woa, holy crap! I just found an 'artifact'.. when I scan it it says 'a treasure from the future'.. the artifact is called 'ghostbusters movie'.
A new movie in the future?

This game sounds like another sad excuse to sell games to console kiddies and others who fall for those types of gimmicks. It will probably be another disposable game with little staying power, a game that is quickly sold to Gamestop within a couple weeks.

As for the PC version--if it's going to be a console port then you already know with 99% certainty that it will be garbage. Other than a tiny handful of companies today, game designers could not give two squats less about PC gaming.

I watched a video of this game on YouTube and was not impressed at all. The gameplay looks stupid and geared toward a console gamepad. It looks like you just hold down 'fire' button and it basically aims that stupid plasma beam at the enemy for you. It needs a projectile weapon. Does the game even have more than one gun? Can your character jump, crouch, and prone? It just looks too basic to me.

The graphics and physics effects look beautiful. This game looks like all fluff to me though. It doesn't look like it's fun, and it doesn't look like it requires much skill at all.

E8500 @ 4.0ghz
4GB ram
ATI 4890 1GB @ 925/1075
HannsG 28" LCD

Run max settings @ 1920x1200 and the frame rate stays right at 30fps. (the default 30fps sync is enabled)

Was this pc port really handled by Terminal Reality? I got my start there back in 1999. Used to be a good shop, we designed the first game to combine simultaneous online play between a PC, an Apple, and a Dreamcast (4x4 Evolution). The game itself was just ok in my mind, but the net code behind that one was truly awesome.

Any way, I didn't know they had any decent title coming out, I may have to check this one out.
