What daily would you buy with $7500?

Trouble is, how can the dealership reasonably verify the authenticity of all that money?

Money is money. No business in its right mind cares where it comes from.

Not being able to accept 3k in cash is a crock of shit. Maybe 10k+. Maybe.

Correct $10K cash is the magic number its the point where they have to report it to the Feds... I went to buy a truck a few years ago and was going to pay for it cash (cost of it was like $12K) so when I went to Credit Union to get the money drawn out they told me this so I opted for a teller check so nothing was reported... Also they told me it was because of money laundering and drug money the Feds would be interested and I just wanted to buy a truck with a wad of cash...😛

lol
I can understand the suspicion as the majority of their transactions are likely through lease and finance.

Eli what 4th insight are you talking about?

Uh, more likely that the government could have put in a regulation about large cash transactions, I wouldn't be looking to hold that one against the dealership.

Doesn't a dealership report every transaction rather it's a cash transaction or otherwise to the government? I wouldn't buy a car without filling out the state form to transfer the title to my name, last time I bought a car this form included a purchase price. There should be an allowance for vendors who exclusively sell high dollar items, who routinely report sales, to accept cash as payment. If they're not able to it's because of bonehead legislation, not because of 9/11. 9/11 was a tragedy, it's an insult to those who died and the friends and family of those who died to blame everything wrong with our government or society on the events of that day.

since ur talking in kilometers, i assume ur outside the US. try looking for an e36 m3, if u get the euro motor (it will have 286hp for 1995 and below, and 320hp for 1996-1999, the us spec only gets 240hp), ur gonna have a good time driving it.

Just throwing this out there. If you keep the Aveo, and haven't already, get your timing built changed. I had the same year model, and that year had issues with the timing belt snapping on a lot right around 60k mile mark. Since you passed that a bit, and I had too, and your belt hasn't broke, I would get it done if you are keeping the car.

The good thing is the US model can be tuned to the Euro spec. I'll never understand why BMW US nerfed that gen M3 so badly in stock form, both with the 3.0 and 3.2.

That's why they only would take a little over 3000. It wasn't their policy, it was the new laws in place.

Link to this law? It doesn't sound right to me - and my parents just bought a car with $5k in cash (from a dealer) a couple weeks ago.

I'm in Canuckistan. I think the cars we get are pretty similar.
Thanks for the bit about the timing belt - I actually did change it when I had about 95,000km -- it was certainly due.

Focus or since you have rust issues and Yep thats quebec get a Saturn Ion quad coupe
Plaastic door panels will nver rust, your used to Chev interiors the ones w suicide doors look pretty good

What is all the tuning required? I thought they were different engines

+1

they are completely different motors, for example the euro motor has 6 individual throttle bodies, and the us spec only has 1. there are a lot of differences, which makes them different motors entirely. the only way the us spec m3 can compete with the euro spec is through forced induction. u could swap in a euro motor and tranny, but that costs a LOT. that same money could be used to turbo ur m3 and make it way faster than the euro m3.

Why would you spend $7500 to "upgrade" to a Pontiac version of the same car that you hate?

This, it's just an Aveo with a dress on. I spent 10 years driving an Escort and the Aveo felt underpowered even to me, the 4 day loaner seem like an eternity before I could bring it back..

I'd find another low-mileage Mazda6. Absolutely love my car and have had zero issues with it. Fun to drive, looks nice, comfortable, and gets great gas mileage. Can't ask for much more.

I got a rebuilt scion tc 06 frame @ 32k with an 08 engine @12k for $7k. Everyone here said I was stupid to touch a rebuilt.

I made out like a bandit. Love my car.
