You were very liquid, ie no family, no responsiblities and 1 million US funds in cash? PLease state where and why?

I would choose thailand becuase it's cheap and still fairly lawless (not lawlessness) and the food is great

Few weeks ago I'd say Denmark, but right now I'd probably say Norway. Not that its anything wrong with Denmark but I just realized that I need mountains around me, Denmark is just too flat for my taste . Also Norway is I think the only country in the world that has no outstanding debts :)

...and because maybe AmusedOne's seen enough of the world to avoid the "grass is always greener" syndrome...

Burrr to cold. ;) And they would take 1/2 your cash upon entry. Not much in NORWAY but nords. Plus you can't buy a small tropical island.

I would stay in the US but move to Alaska. It seems to be the closest thing to a frontier we have left.

For the most part, it is. What was it that Mark Russell said when he did his comedy special up here?

"Alaska. The Great Land. Where men are men, women are women, Republicans are Republicans... and so are the Democrats. And the only thing Gun Control means is a good, steady aim."

If I were very liquid I'd run. The country I'd choose is California.

California of the bow of the ship of the world.

I'd move back to my home country - Hungary - and start a small company doing computer-related stuff. Hungary is absolutely beautiful - nice cities and gorgeous countryside - and prices are relatively low. And, if my business were to be successful, I would be pleased to know that I am helping my homeland's economy.

California is also one of the most expensive places to live in the US. Your 1 million wouldn't go very far. Half of that would be taken up just buying a halfway decent house.

Yea I meant $150 tennyshoes and gold etc. I was at BigO tires this weekend and typical TT comes in driving a transam. Dressed up real nice even had a immitation rolex and $150 NIKES on. Four kids and wife in thier "family" car. Says he has a flat but I see the tire is ripped to shreads so he gonna need a new one. Clerk says that tire will be ~$75. Guy says "don't you have a used one"???WTF Then I say "you spent more than that on those shoes, what more important? Your families safty or your feet looking pretty?" He bought the tire after calling his mom to deposit $LOL but this just shows you typical TT attitude.
