Xbox 360
Ps 1,2,3,4
Psp
NES
Super Nes
N64
Sega Genesis
DreamCast
And a Gaming PC

Isn't this what system we all have essentially? My list is not as fleshed out, but still:

Xbox One (actually my 12 year old son's :p)
5 PS3's (one for everyone)
Wii
3 3DS (one for each kid)
360
Xbox
NES
gaming PC
3 Google Nexus tablets (one for each kid if you want to count it)

The very notion that anyone over 15 is a fanboy for any particular system is pretty laughable in this day and age.

I got my Xbox One off someone who wanted to get rid of it on Craigslist.

I bought it a couple weeks after it came out, I wish I would have gotten a PS4 because the games look so much better.

It's about the sample size. We're using a one- or two-month trend of Wii U sales to say that the console's overtaking the Xbox One month-to-month. We're calling the Wii U a failure (though I think that's a harsh interpretation) because it's struggled with sales for basically every month but one of its 15 months. The Xbox One's had about two of its 9 months where it has looked really bad, and that's something to do with the games selection at the time (Titanfall's the only exclusive to write home about in 2014, so far, in my opinion).

If we get to January, and the Wii U is consistently outselling the Xbox One, or if the Xbox One continues to see sales fall into the holiday months, it's time to panic. However, comparing sales when the Wii U has arguably its biggest game out and the Xbox One has relatively little out isn't a useful point of comparison.

What's the point anyway ? The only thing that really matters about Wii U sales is if they sell enough of them to encourage Nintendo to keep making games for it, I think its going to reach that point easily, if it hasn't already.

It's really only the xbox one and the PS4 that have to compete with each other, and even more the PS3/xbox 360, to justify the development of their libraries, long term.

PS4 seems well on it's way, it's the xbox one that's lagging. Not really the Wii U, which has it's own raison d'etre.

Honestly, I'd rather see the Wii U sales stagnate to the point Nintendo has to abandon it. Games aside, it's not a good console, IMO. It needs a proper gaming network, and a means to communicate in-game. The tablet's a good idea as a remote play device, but I think that they should have saved money by putting those capabilities into the 3DS over WiFi, then used the saved money to build a stronger console.

That, and the Wiimotes, I just hate them. Playing MK8 with tilt controls is inconsistent, as you'll have a character just turn the wrong way at random. The controller's not comfortable to hold if you're an adult (it's too cramped), and then I'm just irritated that Tropical Freeze is limited to 2-player co-op, because I got my Wii U for 3 people to play together.

Anyway, the Wii U, it's a secondary console to buy, IMO. I got it because it cost me about $150-175 for the console, 2 games, and 2 Wiimotes. Otherwise, I wouldn't have ever gotten it, because $300 just isn't worth what you get, from my perspective. Nintendo has to realize that online gaming is what they need more than anything, and I don't just mean occasional games with no chat feature.

I'd also say that the One is far from in trouble. Like I said, if sales don't pick up substantially as we see the Madden and Sunset Overdrive bundles launch, and as the Halo bundle comes out in November (as well as a new CoD, which tends to sell better on Xbox than PlayStation), there's reason to worry. Calling the console in trouble because its sales during an extremely-dry summer is pretty pointless.

Woof, I haven't stopped by in a while. This place is always a good laugh. :)

I got both, bought both day of launch, have hated both pretty much, and now almost a year of owning both still find it hard to recommend either.

Thankfully Destiny is less than a month away. I'm torn which system to buy it on, since I don't have some kind of religious cult friendlist other people seem to have.

Either way, if you own a decently modern computer you'll find very little use for these new awesome consoles. $500/$400 for two or three games in a 9 month period is just a big waste of money.

Destiny on PS4/PS3 gets an exclusive strike mission for a year and a crucible map as well as access to special upgraded armor for each class, 2 special weapons, and 3 special ships.

There's a difference between "religious cult," and not wanting to buy everything, due to cost and convenience. Many only want to spend money on one gaming system, and a PC's high initial investment and relatively inflexible setup (mouse and keyboard) and higher skill requirement for online play make it unpopular for the masses. I mean, I love playing games on my PC, but at the same time, I don't want to get a desk and a quality monitor and such to play shooters well online, so I play those on console and play Civ and campaigns and that stuff (which is cheap on Steam) on PC.

Also, I think that there's an impending flood of games to consider getting in the next 6 months or so. Dying Light, Evolve, and The Division should be out. The sports games are getting refreshed, if you like them. We've got a few nice near-future racing games in Driveclub, The Crew and Horizon 2. Halo's getting revamped on the One. Sunset Overdrive is about to launch. Infamous is about to get another mini-installment. Destiny, as was said, is near release. There are a heck of a lot more as well, I'm just tired of listing them.

So, if you're not into PC gaming (either due to cost or setup, or even because your friends are on console), now is actually a good time to buy in. There have been trade-in deals to get you $100+ off the One (one of which ends tonight), and the PS4 had a big trade promotion at GameStop recently.

It takes some pretty extreme fanboyism or MS hate to call Forza bad. Saying Forza 5 is a bad racer is like saying Mario 64 is a bad platformer.

Most people seem to agree that Forza is the better driving game, while Gran Turismo is the better driving simulator. In terms of realism, GT definitely has it beat. Even the AI drivers are completely oblivious to what's going on, just like in real life! :D

Most of the Forza 5 hate stems from the micro-transactions and having less content than Forza 4. Though it still reviewed very highly. It's counterpart on the PlayStation has top notch realism but still suffers from bad AI and weak audio.

I loved Forza 2 and 3 but Forza 4 put me off a little as it was based around DLC's and from what I've been told, Forza 5 is basically the same thing. I hope GT7 doesn't turn out that way.

Gran Turismo 5 left such a bad taste is so many people's mouths. That's the reason why I skipped over GT6. GT5 was a mess when released, also using such old models from GT4 made no sense as well.I also its not like they fixed that in 6. To me, because of that, Forza is the better overall driving simulator.

What does "based around DLC" mean? It's completely optional content. As for Gran Turismo, didn't the last couple GT's have DLC?

You have a bad habit of generalizing for entire groups. I had quite a few friends (40-50+) who happily played through GT5 for months after it came out. It was an outstanding game as long as you weren't expecting an arcade racer. I didn't play 4 so I can't comment on the models thing you mentioned.

It's not generalizing, it's the truth.

See ? You bought a Wii U too. It's going to work out fine.

I personally see it as a problem when you have to keep offering bundles to spur sales. The fact that they are doing Bundles for seemingly every bigger game that comes out (Forza, Titanfall, Madden, talk of Halo bundle and sunset overdrive) just says to me that the sales are worse than we know about. MS lists their console sales in units shipped, not units sold at retail. So for all we know there's a lot of stock that isn't moving.

I'm not saying the sales suck, but it strikes me as the manufacturer not having faith in a product selling itself without offering extras to go along with it.

It's your opinion, nothing more and nothing less. Opinions are not truth.

So you didn't notice that only the very small percentage of cars even had interiors and that most had PS2 level detail? How could anybody love the excruciating load times of the menus? Yea the 2.0 update helped but it still was so gimped. Yea I played the hell out of it because I was the biggest GT fan before 5 but Forza surpassed it. Bumper cars, AI still doesn't care if you are there, etc etc

GT5 would have been a better game had they just left out all the "standard" cars. The problem with Polyphony is they spend five years just giving the same game a fresh coat of paint. None of the long term issues ever seem to get fixed. The zombie AI in particular still completely ignores the player's actions.

The most irritating things about GT5 were the special races, where you'd get an instant disqualification if you collided with anything. I remember almost finishing that stupid Samba Bus race after several tries attempting to get gold, which you needed to unlock the Top Gear Test Track. Almost across the line, then BANG, an AI driver rear ends me out of nowhere. DNQ. I actually threw the disc across the room like a frisbee after that. I'm also fully aware of the irony behind a Top Gear challenge that disqualifies you for hitting things.

GT is far better played online with real drivers. You never feel like you're actually racing the computer. They just run on a predefined racing line/rail.

To answer all the posts directed at me, look at my original post please. I put the poll up to satisfy my own curiousity.

If you're a developer, what system would you develop exclusives for? A system that sells a million units a month or one that sells 500,000 a month? That's a no brainer, bigger database of users = more potential profits for you. Assuming there any good exclusives come out, my decision on a system is partially based on this.

The whole "Personaly" thing I posted is avoid crap posts by fan boys who only pipe in to start flame wars.

Anyway, my question has been answered. If a mod could close this thread before it gets out of hand I'd appreciate it.

Why would you cut your potential user base by several millions, instead of developing for both?
