Probably something similar. I bought the 1800xp, board, 4x 256gb, and Windows XP when it came out.

It was smoking' fast.

4GB in 2004? Almost nobody would have bought that much memory for anything but a server. XP x64 wasn't even released until 2005, and even with that OS it was almost impossible to get one program to use more than 2GB at a time.

It was so long ago maybe I have it all mixed up lol. I may be thinking 2-3 years later down the road.

Maybe I upgraded the ram or something later down the road.

No pics. But it was an Antec SLK3000BQE, Soyo KT400 motherboard, Athlon XP 2400+, a couple of HDDs, ~1GB of RAM (That was the year I upgraded from 512MB to 1.5GB), and either a Radeon 8500LE or a 9600XT.

I had a couple lower-end systems too, and an Apple Powerbook G3 laptop.

I had a Gallatin Pentium4 Extreme Edition 3.2 that was a total waste of money. I ended up replacing it with an Athlon 64 and and it was much much better.

That would be a Dell Dimension something or other. P4 3GHz. My parents were still using it last year until I finally got them something better.

Still in high school but had my own computer. It sucked... Pentium 4, a gig of Ram, and an Nvidia card. I upgraded two years later.

Oh, it's coming back to me. That was the year World of Warcraft came out (later in the year). Every time I went into town, the computer would chug at 1 frame per minute for 5-10 minutes before everything properly loaded.

I would have still been on my first custom build then which was a P3 800mHz and 256MB RAM. Some sort of ASUS motherboard.

Barton 2500 mobile chip, OC'd great.
9800 Pro (my favorite gfx card of all time)
Win 2K
IIRC, 512MB of of some whiz bang ram for OCing that I later found out was unnecessary for AMD cpu's (but helpful in P4's, which I hated).

AMD 2400+
9700 pro, then FX 5800 Ultra (stupid side grade)

Can't remember rest, but it was fun and glorious.

It's funny how we look back now and 10 years ago AMD was just eating Intel's lunch. Those early XP series processors and the early AMD64 line were just killing it.

It was a Compaq Presario with a big, ugly blue target looking thing on the front that opened to hold CDs if one so chose.

It looked like this:

Athlon XP 1800+ (JIXIB, iirc), Asus A7N8X, 32 MB TNT2 M64. At some point got the gift that kept on giving, the refurb X800XT PE from the Ati store (eventually got money back from it, and then a new video card as well, thank you class action suits).

I think it was an Athlon64 4000+ but I have slept since then. Wish I could go back to that time and steal my Voodoo 5500 from myself that I had in storage before I threw it away. I stopped hoarding around that time and regret it once in a while.
