Yeah that list is pretty lame.

you come up with a less lame list. i mean seriously those are the most commonly discussed companies on here, EA was just mentioned cuz they now OFFICIALLY own the sports world.

EA sucks and has sucked for a very long time. However, the USA market has proven to love suckage in their video games.

Sports game world.

Far cry from owning the world, though - social, economic, political.

Hmmm... you forgot GE, CITI Group, Carlyle group, Halliburton, Shell, BP, Exxon-Mobil, Dyncorp... and a couple others. Might as well through Samsung in there too they have had a really good profit margin this year.

Take over the world as in the Romans controlling most of the land bordering the Mediterranean Sea?

I do not see that happening. A company can make more money by having governments run things and people pay for it.

A lot of you mock Google as a choice, but they are slowly (quietly) developing and releasing applications that are a)superior to all their competitors and b)something many of us use daily and find invaluable.

The only reason you can't think of Google as a serious competitor yet is because their recent contributions (so far) have been small (yet still invaluable). GMail, Google Maps, Google Local, Google News...I find myself using each item at least once a day (if not much more). If Google were to tackle something like an OS or business software, it would have instant credibility and a loyal userbase.

Google is really the only company with the talent and credibility to pose any threat to Microsoft (if they choose to do so).

Toyota is undoubtedly going to rule the roost in the automotive industry for the next 5 years (at least). EA...? They are big but the gaming industry can survive without them (and would probably be better for it). WalMart is going to grow for a while yet, no surprise.
