Actually there is plenty of archeological evidence that Jesus existed. There was actually a man with a following that eventually became Christianity. What is up in the air is whether most of the stuff written about him is fiction or not.

You are ill-informed. Whether Jesus is God and/or the Son of God is an issue of religious debate. That a person named Yoshua ben Yusef of Nazareth (called in the Greek, Jesus) lived in Nazareth and Judea around 20 AD and was an important religious teacher of the time is historical fact, verified by multiple contemporary sources, and universally accepted by scientists and scholars alike.

I thought it was universally accepted that Jesus probably wasn't "born" 2003 years ago, but around then, so 2003 may not be how long it has been since his birth, and most probably isn't.
