Being capped at 30fps (ps3) is way different than running it at a true 120 fps like I do on the computer. And the 30fps is max with dips into the mid 20's it felt like. My pc is pegged at a buttery smooth 120fps with no dips. Also from the looks of it the ps3 also caps sf4 at 720p while my pc is full 1080p which would explain why the picture wasnt as sharp. I'm not trying to be anti console guy but I truly was disappointed playing sf4 on ps3. I'm use to a certain level of gameplay and the ps3 doesn't deliver to my standards.

I don't get "your level of standards" because like I said, national competitions are run on consoles (PS3 or 360). I've been playing fighting games ever since the SFII days (in the arcades), and I've also played SEVERAL fighting games on the PC, and consoles don't reduce my level of play or enjoyment of the game. And I am VERY picky.

And I'd like to see the monitor you are running that will allow you to run 120Hz. I had a Sony G500 CRT monitor that wouldn't do 120Hz, so if you have an LCD hooked up to your PC, it ain't refreshing at 120Hz.

there are plenty 120hz lcd's. the price on them are not bad either.

I almost pulled the trigger on not bad for right over 200

I also sold my PS3 after about 10 hours of use. I bought 6 games, and the reason for buying a PS3 (and a wheel) - Gran Turismo 5 - ended up sucking balls. Never had any fun playing PS3. Not one bit. Using the wheel with PC now and enjoying immensely.
You bought 6 games but only played for 10 hours?

at this point a cheap PC can do better graphics than a PS3. And for a lower price. And more immersive (ie: precise mouse) controls.

I mean, you can get a cheap dual or quad core system for like $400 from tiger direct and then stick in a cheap under $100 video card. I did something similar. Upgrade cost for a radeon 5670 is actually $45, and it is faster and more capable than a PS3 or xbox 360.

For a while the ps3 could also run Ubuntu, but they took that out in the newer version.

It's not a TRUE 120Hz refresh, like in processing 120 FULL FPS. Again, my G500 was a high end CRT, and no LCD can touch it even to this day when it comes to motion. Notice 3.5ms is grey to grey, not black to black. So I doubt that LCD is going through the full range of color when refreshing. Kind of a half ass 120 FPS refresh.

Here's some on the 120hz monitors. They are really 120hz

The main reason for the push for 120Hz is 3D. 60Hz for each eye. If you have seen smooth 3D on a computer monitor it was doing true 120Hz or very close to it.

The 120hz thing was not originally for 3D. It was for displaying 24fps theatrical content without the "judder" effect caused by 3:2 pull-down.

3D TVs started pimping 240hz...even though it's COMPLETELY unnecessary.

What if I wanted to eliminate judder for each eye? ;)

A PC can play Rage without textures popping up every time you:
- turn to the right
- turn to the left
- move forward
- move backward
- jump
- shoot and have the recoil move the camera a bit

Play more games with better controls and potentially better graphics? It's also upgradable and modular. Much easier and cheaper to buy a new graphics card than a new console.

Not if Ubisoft has anything to say about it.

No. I bought a ps3 after believing garbage like your post. Even bought streetfighter 4 which I already own on pc just to play on ps3. Needless to say it played like complete crap on ps3. Bland colors, choppy gameplay, didn't look nearly as sharp. The ps3 has had maybe 10 hours of use total. It's for sale btw.

i own sf4 and ssf4 on ps3, 360, and pc. only thing pc does better is graphics. the pc netcode is better than ps3 but pretty much identical to 360.

however... the competition and rage quits on PC is completely laughable compared to console versions.

oh and ps3 has no slowdown or choppy gameplay with the exception of a few background stages, downtown china being the worst. the 360 version doesn't have any choppiness at all.

you are so totally wrong and uniformed.

sf4 (and all it's iterations) runs at 60 fps on PS3 as well as xbox360.

but yes, SF4 is native 720p on consoles.

I find that the minimum frames per second on consoles tends to dip quite low even if they claim it runs 60FPS. Unfortunately it is difficult to verify frame rates on most games that are not on a PC. Thus publishers can claim the frame rates are better than they actually are.
