Faucoult's Pendulum, by Umbertgo Eco.

Damn Friday nights during the summer when I'm not in town with my friends because I've got an internship on a quiet campus.

Aahhh, one of my favourites! What a great collection of stories!

Somebody mentioned another Stephen King book being slow at the beginning. I thought his books were slow from beginning to end. :) Seriously, though, one of the things I like about the guy is the way he describes everything thoroughly and makes the story come to life in your mind. Truly brilliant. I don't know who else would be capable of dragging out a story like the Tommyknockers over 1000 paperback pages and get away with it.

Reading the Two Towers right now and loving it! I am so glad I waited until after the movie...

I haven't read much of it yet but: Silent Warrior: The Marine Sniper's Vietnam Story Continues by Charles Henderson.

The follow up book to "Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills"

Reading "Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills" right now :)

Excellent book. I couldn't put it down and read it in, i think, like two evenings.

Are these fiction or non-fiction books? They sound right up my alley but are they like a novel or more of a journal of 1 marine's sniping?

I was reading OP Center: Acts of War by clancy but switched to This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti

No one answered your question. Not sure if you'll see this, but i figured I would. It is non-fiction. It is not really a journal though, it reads more like a novel. Ever read "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote, it reads like that.

I'm currently reading for my class Aaron Copland's memoir. the book is called Copland: 1900 through 1942. It's an interesting read for anyone who likes classical music

I have The Universe in a Nutshell and it is confusing as hell. Also The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, I'm about 1/2 way through with it.

one of my favorite books. i should re-read it cause it's been a while since i read it

Definately a great book, just finished it today and it really moved me, I was upset for a couple hours afterwards cause it was far from a happy ending.

Im probably going to read "Catcher in the Rye" next, I'm catching up on all the classics that i never had to read in High School.

Can anyone recommend some really good, long classics? I'm gonna check the back cover of 1984 for the list of books they always have, cause i don't really like the novels (stephen king, tom clancy) that are written these days.

If you like the theme of 1984, you should also try Aldous Huxley's Brave New World and Frantz Kafka's The Trial.

I'll second Brave New World - one of my favorites. What type of classical lit. are you interested in? Any specific period?

The Legacy by R.A. Salvatore
Book 1 of the Legacy of the Drow Series. Basically picks up a few months after they rescue their rumblebelly(forget his proper name) from Artemis in Calimport.

Since I met my wife I read a lot more fantasy than sci-fi these days.
