I'm running a 1070ti with 5700x1080 on a Devil's Lake i5 and have yet to find a game that causes it to choke. Average around 50fps on FarCry 5
Costco
I discovered them over 20 years ago (maybe 30), think I was in the neighborhood on my bike. Got a day pass to check it out. Been a member for probably 25 years. I was approached by a lovely lady around 2 months ago there while I was waiting in checkout line and she asked me if she could check and see if I might benefit from an elevated status membership (forget what she called it. Executive? Business?). She took my card and came back a few minutes later and said I was sort of on the cusp. If I were to want to buy a big ticket item, say a $800 TV, I should ask about that membership and I would benefit.Costco
yeah, I hit them up every 2 weeks or so. I even bought my last 55" 4k TV from them. 400 bucks and adding 3 more years was like 30-40 buck more on the warranty.I discovered them over 20 years ago (maybe 30), think I was in the neighborhood on my bike. For quite a few years I went there on my bicycle, I'd affix a big basket on the back rack and bring home a haul every once in a while. One day I brought home over 100lb on that bike! That was a wobbly trip, but I made it. I am the only guy I ever saw bring a bicycle to Costco! These days I have a car.
I was going every 6 weeks or so but these days I hit them every other week. Got into getting produce there, especially the organic produce. Very competitive pricing on that.
I bought 2 TCL 43S403 43" 4K TVs from them ~3 months ago, they were discounted and the best price around, period. $219.99 each IIRC. Automatic warranty extension from Costco when buying with the Costco Visa CC. Not only did I get a killer deal, I could pick mine right off the pallet and make sure the boxes weren't dented, a big deal for me. I bought a 40" Avera 4K TV from Walmart that was delivered with a dinged box a month or so before and I refused to even open the box, just brought it to my local Walmart and demanded a refund. They would only give me store credit and I was "whatever."yeah, I hit them up every 2 weeks or so. Yep. Bought my TCL there. Picked up a nice un-dented box. Works great. I may go for the 65" version soon as I sit around 7 feet from the 55" and at my advanced age of 53 my eyesight ain't what it used to be even with glasses.I bought 2 TCL 43S403 43" 4K TVs from them ~3 months ago, they were discounted and the best price around, period. $219.99 each IIRC. After returning the TV to Walmart I ordered another from them (Avera 40" 4K, 2017 model), and was shipped the 2016 model, which is quite a different thing. I arranged a return via Fedex for that. The first of those TV's I bought was from Newegg. That was around December. That had a major defect and it went back. I decided that picking up your TV from a store personally is the way to go if possible.
I think to get the full benefit of 4K (assuming the content is of that res) even with the best of eyes you should be that close, maybe closer. I checked it out at Costco maybe a year ago on their 4K displays. If you are farther back you are just not going to discern the detail that's in the picture (assuming that detail is there!). That said, there's more to the viewing experience than picking up on the maximum detail on inspection. There might be something to say for sitting further back, is what I'm saying.Yep. 3 hours is a long way. I buy a lot of food at Costco, have a 25lb unopened bag of white flour, buy 10lb bags of organic carrots cheap (for some reason they stopped carrying that a couple months ago), have bought all kinds of stuff there over the years. But I'm ~5 miles away.I would love if we had a Costco here, some people actually do the drive to Sudbury (3 hours) just to go shopping there. Then again as someone single I don't know if it would be worthwhile for me to even get a membership. There are some things I could buy regularly like toilet paper and cat litter but food items would be too much as I would not be able to eat it all fast enough.
I've seen those in San Antonio, TX.Howard-Edward-Butt, more known as H-E-B, a grocery store.
No way that stuff is still as good by the time you get it home. Unless it's just curry and rice you mix yourself. We've tried.
BTW, I learned to make the Thai Iced Tea at home. Tea leaves from Amazon. Score.
Just this past week I was in there and got a metal pail and some ABS cement. I tend to go to Menard's more often, a regional chain version of the same kind of store.A little surprised at the love for homedepot. I don't know what they keep in all that space, but it usually isn't what I need. I'd be happy to see the stores razed, and trees planted in their place.
We actually still have all of those.Apple Store?
Not really.
B&M stores that used to exist where I live - Cost Plus/World Market, A&W Restaurant, Long Johns Silver's.
