Home Depot, sometimes I just have an idea for a project but no clue how I want to do it so I just meander around the store getting bits and pieces to make something. Can't do that online.
Best Buy for me. They are the only game in town now for top of the line electronics.
Top of the line? I feel like I'm lucky if they have mid-range stuff in stock. Better than the electronics dept at Walmart or something I guess.
For me it'd really just be the grocery store. Home depot would be tough, but mostly due to shipping being insane when I need 3 nuts or something.
Just 2 off the top of my head:
- -
The Berkeley Bowl (My local supermarket/produce indy store)
Costco
Been in there a few times, don't remember buying anything.
I should check them out more often. I think you can get good open box deals there, but don't remember doing it. I did check out a printer there and then bought online.

Ace can't compete with Lowes and Home Depot in my neighborhood. Couple of Aces opened and closed within a couple of years. I'm curious if there are Lowes/HD near your Ace?Yes, I would certainly miss the Ace that's like 10 blocks from my house. I'm in there all the time.

Unpopular- but Best Buy. It's the only major electronics store left. There's something about being able to actually see new products that's appealing. Sometimes they have great deals too.
The bigger stores have way more selection but they're much farther away. The local Ace is right down the street, and I know exactly where everything is. I'm home by the time I would have arrived at Home Depot, Menards, or Lowes.
Count me among those who don't want to see Best Buy disappear. I just checked, and they actually have some 2080's in stock.
Off topic - would I see a worthwhile increase switching from a 1070 to a 2080 at 5700x1080?
Best deal I've ever gotten in a dollar or $0.99 store is scientific calculators for a buck! I have bought around 1/2 dozen, and IIRC only one has failed. Use 'em all the time, have stashed here and there.I'd miss the Dollar store. I buy crap that I don't even need, e.g. an L-square the other day. Metal square for a buck - How can I lose?

Ace's prices are meh. I have a True Value 6 blocks away, ~4 minute bike ride. And across the street from my favorite food market. That would be missed even more. Such a cool place. Their prices aren't always competitive, but for produce, they pretty much rock and have a huge variety. Costco beats them for some stuff pricewise, but Costco has very limited variety in produce.Yes, I would certainly miss the Ace that's like 10 blocks from my house. I'm in there all the time.
I made my own saw tooth set. Used it on my own crosscut saw. I was kinda bored, I guess. I priced it at local HW store and being dirt poor at the time, I just went "hell, I can make that myself if I use my ingenuity and imagination!" Made it from stuff I had lying around. Still have it, very impressive tool! I rarely use a crosscut saw anymore. Sometimes. I have a lot of tools.Wegmans for groceries/food.
The thrift shop for the other stuff :^D
I'm drawing a blank on new item stores that I couldn't live without. Maybe the Stihl dealer since they don't sell online, but I'm pretty good on saws for... ever maybe.
I very seldom graze, I'd have to be very hungry. Or legitimately curious, but that doesn't often happen with produce, etc.Supermarket.
How else do I get to eat grapes for free.
When I was a kid, my idea of paradise was a toy store. When I was grown, a sporting goods store. Now, it's a hardware store. I could wander in a hardware store for hours and not feel like I was wasting my time, as long as I didn't have anything else I needed to do.Local supermarket and hardware stores.
There's an independent electronics parts store about a mile from me that's been there for multiple decades. Some of their stuff is packaged, but they have a lot of stuff in little drawers only accessible to staff, and there's usually two people staffing. You can buy 1, 2, 5, 10 any amount of the unpacked stuff. You just ask them how much apiece. $5 minimum CC charge. I'm going to hit it Friday when I do my bi-weekly Costco run and pick up some antenna cable connectors. I get a lot of stuff online, but they are sometimes the place to go. Been in there probably 40 times, guessing. Their pricing is just OK, not the cheapest if you consider online, but the convenience factor is tops and with electronics parts sometimes you want it now. Plus you get to see what you're getting.Fry's Electronics. It's about 70 miles away, but I always stop to buy electronic parts when I'm near by. I miss Radio Shack. Now, if I need a capacitor, thermal switch, etc. I have to either drive to Fry's or order it on line and wait.
I think if the prices are competitive, there's a reason to buy from them (Costco). You can return in person or exchange. Some items are a bitch when shipped, was burned a few times buying TVs this year (from Newegg and Walmart). Better to pick up. Can inspect the box before accepting it, don't have to worry about delivery people being cavalier in their handling of the box.i still make it a point to buy from best buy if their prices are comparable to online, because i like going to try the stuff and want to be able to keep doing that
bought a TV, sound bar and a few other things from them in the past year
Funny enough my favorite grocery store just closed its doors this week.
